Both are bad. I think mammal meat should only be consumed a few time a month. think about how our hunter gatherer ancestors lived. They would eat meat when they get a huge kill and mostly eat fruits and vegetables for most days. processed carbs didnt exist. They would also go hungry for days. That is what our body is accustomed too. that's why i think fasting is also a good idea
it was actually the opposite. they would eat meat the entire winter months. In fact the available fruits and vegetables where very short part of the year, and hunting was what kept humans alive..

No - I compete on a weightlifting team and have to maintain my weight class. 300g c / 80g f / 200g P is really, really, really hard to get from all plant. Plus, like I said, I really like animal protein. It's difficult enough getting all those macros in on a 100% clean / non processed diet.
I can't remember the name of the documentary but it was on Netflix and looked at athletes on plant-based diets. The long and short of it is that it's a myth that you can't get protein from plants. Cows eat nothing but grass so where do they get their protein to build muscles? Athletes who don't eat meat didn't have as much junk in their blood and said they have more energy and faster recovery times because of it.

They showed how some power lifter dude from India (I believe) was pure plant based on was able to build more mass and more strength because our bodies literally are not designed to ingest animal protein. Look at animals that are and they have sharp teeth for cutting flesh, they eat the meat raw and they have a short digestive tract. The plant eaters have flat teeth and a longer digestive tract for extracting nutrients from fibrous material (aka plants). We humans fall into that category.

You do you; all i'm suggesting is that maybe you do some more research especially if you're an athlete. You might be surprised at what you find.

Yeah I know, I am not debating you can get protein from plants but you have to eat a shitload. I prefer meat and non processed food. I do eat a lot of fruit/vegetables for carbs.

I'm thinking about celebrating last night by heading over to Popeyes to double fist a couple spicy chicken sandwiches.

You know I started with the Meatless Monday thing, but I dropped useless weight and kept it off in part by only eating meat at dinner. It wasn't a hard sacrifice to make and there are a lot of meatless breakfast/lunch options that arent tofu based, and my body never felt like it was being denied anything.

Anyway, as long as Fields is taking care of his body, I am happy.
A big misconception is that you need to replace "meat" with plant-based protein. One of the absolute worst things you can put in your body is the fake meat (beyond and so on). It's highly processed and made with vegetable oil which your body reacts to as if it were low-dosage radiation.

We're so conditioned to be eating a meal centered around the protein that we think we need to replace the protein in order to be able to eat a meal? I personally don't like tofu at all. I replaced taco meat in my salad with taco-seasoned black beans as an example. Sometimes my wife and I will just have rice and steamed vegetables for dinner. Get rid of the idea that "a meal looks like this" and it becomes a lot easier to make healthy changes.

People dont eat fake meat for health. Just the environment. Fake meat can be unhealty or maybe even more than real meat.

Cows eat nothing but grasses because they can break down cellulose.. All grazing animals have this ability.. Humans do not When we eat plants we only can absorb a small % of the available energy, where eating meat we get most of the energy. Its because Humans have evolved to eat meat. If we evolved to be plant only we would be able to break down cellulose.

Also as far as athletes go.. look at the Olympics 99.99% of athletes are omnivorous.. if a no meat diet gave you an advantage you would see more vegan Olympic athletes

There is so much opinion and politics polluting any science here, plus pure marketing. (Remember butter is bad, margarine is healthy, no wait, margarine is bad, butter is healthy.)

No ancestors were nearly all vegetarian. Likewise none were all meat and no grain either, Paleo is just a name someone picked to sell their diet.
Having evolved from a common ancestor does not make modern primates a good guess at what our ancestors ate. If it was they likely would've evolved with us.

As someone with digestion issues that has recently redecided to not take in nutrition, meat is concentrated nutrition. Sugar is concentrated calories, the inflammation it causes must not be very powerful as many with this survive off sugar and we already inflame ourselves. There are no studies telling us to not do that. There are studies showing restrictive diets are not good.
