Going to be in town next week for a few days. Staying right in the middle of the Loop, not a part of town I'm super familiar with (outside of the shit I wanna avoid). NW Indiana native, who lives in Florida, that tends to end up in River North or South Loop whenever I am in the city. Looking for non-touristy places to eat and drink if that's even possible. Don't even say Portillo's or Giordano's or I will kick you in the face.

Vito-and-Nicks Pizzeria Italian beef pizza... Never eaten there, just saw it tonight on Diners, drive-in's and dives... The stuff looked delicious.

It'd be tough to find a table, but any of the Rick Bayless restaurants. Nice place on Fulton Market called Carnivale. If you like brewpubs try haymarket which is Randolph and Halsted, or you could do revolution.

If you want to do some traveling there is a great place on N. Broadway called Ceres Table. Also, In Andersonville there is a great small place called Acre that has a great beer list.

I'll come up with some more when I get home. That's just off the top of my head on my phone.

If you like seafood, try Devon on Chicago St.(???)

Fun story, went there on a random Tuesday night a few years ago with a -1. We ended up having dinner with Ron Howard.

Don't forget to grab some Polish food and walleye(some kind of great lake freshwater fish). Those are two things you really wont get back in FL. Everything else, including pizza/hot dogs/ burger joints, you can find in most major metros around the country, or they are easy enough to make at home.

Actually no, because I'm a recent convert to that. I asked about Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind, but he honestly felt more interested in knowing what it was like to be a teacher. So he was asking the questions.
