I cannot believe both Nick & Vitos and Dukes are both still open. I loved those spots back in high school...after hitting up the arcade at Haunted Trails (also still there).

Best thin crust pizza in the city and always did have a weakness for the beef at Duke's (drenched in "red sauce").

Does Dukes still do that classic car night on Saturdays?

When I left Chicago they had stopped it cause idiots were doing burnouts and the cops were getting pissed..They may have started again though..Dukes son had a place at 59th and Harlem on the same side of the street..They closed

Do you remember the Castle motel on 95th and 88th avenue?..I used to play there in the lounge back in the 60s

I do remember that place.

Never stayed there or went to the lounge, but used to buy pot in the parking lot in said high school days (80's).

Which led to Haunted Trails, which led to Dukes.

(Full circle)

Man Chicago is a great restaurant town, and a great place to visit up until around mid October.

**** I can't handle the nostalgia in this thread.

Haunted Trails, Pepe's and Aurelio's. All places my Dad and I used to go.

My Dad says Aurelios sucks ass now, and damn do I miss getting a tostado suiza combo, that was my jam....

EDIT: I just went to the Haunted Trails website, seeing Frank and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, man, so many feelings. Sometimes I miss being a stupid little kid with Summer off school, so much fun. Being an adult with responsibilities is such bullshit sometimes.

Vito-and-Nicks Pizzeria Italian beef pizza... Never eaten there, just saw it tonight on Diners, drive-in's and dives... The stuff looked delicious.

Does it come with a free bulletproof vest and armored transport? I don't venture any further south from 26th St. That part of town is called Chiraq.

That part of town is more suburbia than "Chiraq", but it is okay if you want to live your life by those Highland Park sensibilities.

The 26th St / Little Village area ain't no walk in the park either. There are shootings here too. I am just pointing out that the majority of the shootings have been on the south side of town.

Ya'll gotta get past your myopic Stickney sensibilities. Realize we live in a global world where a sausage sandwich isn't the most important thing in life.

There is this place I used to go to back in the day Tanellis. Good beefs and combos. Also, their thin crust is phenomenal-I would go to the one at 5800 W Fullerton.

This would have been like 2000, but the manager there got shot in the face in a robbery. The tough SOB was back to work 2 weeks later.
