My last few cars have been 2 Caddy STS and an Audi A5. I did look at the 300 Chrysler. Noticed that the fit and finish has greatly improved and think it's every bit as nice as the Caddy STS. Firmer ride and the seats are very firm. Love the interior of the 300. I would recommend the Chrysler dealer in McHenry. My wife leases a Town And Country every 3 years and we have gone there 3 times. Great guys and they always have the lowest price even though they are a small dealership. They even forgave the 1700 miles my wife was over on her lease last time.

I'm a BMW fanatic, but have always been interested in Audi too. What's so great about them? How does yours drive? Any regrets?

Thanks Omelet...Unfortunately I live in NC now... Selling my 99 Cad is going to be very emotional for me..I loved that car, but its getting old, and repairs aint cheap... I saw an Audi SUV yesterday and it was nice, but I want a car with a V8...Chrysler and Lincoln are the only 2 sedans I know of...And I dont like the Town Car. I think Ill get the 2013 300 AWD. I want to stay American..

If you want to stay american and want a v8 just get your self a Ford Shelby

No...Whats mean is having a customer drive 3 hours to examine a car on appointment and not having the car presentable.

Have you looked at the Ford Taurus SHO? My sisters boyfriend has one and really likes it. We love 2 time zones apart so I dont have any more info for ya. It doesn't have a V8 but it's got a bi-turbo V6. And, Ford is didn't get any bailout money from the government(I'm pretty sure I read this somewhere).

I will always stay away from Chrysler products. I am a Mercedes mechanic & started around the time that MB & Chrysler merged. The cars that weren't the top half of the line are garbage. Now, a few years after they split, Benzs are really nice again, except the really bargain basement models.

I know you want to buy American but I'll throw this out there. A pre-owned E 500/E 550. They are available in AWD, the 4 matic system from MB rivals Quattro from Audi.

No matter what you decide to buy, DO NOT EVER buy a car from the first 2 years of that particular models generation. All of the cars I work on that are from the first 2 years of a model run are steaming piles of shit.

Any particular reason you want a V8? If its for aesthetic reasons then ok, but a turbo V6 car has more torque over a broader RPM range than a V8. Plus you'll get a lot better fuel mileage, if you're easy on the throttle.

Unless the turbo system is garbage to begin with, the turbos should last the life of the car. I work on turbo diesels that have over 200K and have the original turbo still, but those cars had all the service work done on time. You need to be really dilligent with services, oil changes at the very least. That's why a turbo fails in most cases, people skip oil changes or go waaaaaay over the mileage interval.

If you're serious about the SHO, get on a Ford forum and ask if any big problems are popping up. That generation Taurus has been out for a few years but it's still close.

How much would a pre-owned E500/E550 go for?

Im not crazy about the V6..To me they sound like sewing machines...High revving, and if ya wanna pass someone, they always downshift to get the guts needed...A V8 just cruises under the same conditions..Its just a personal thing with me..I was raised on V8's and thats what I like. But I will research that SHO.

That wont reduce the sewing machine effect..Theyre high revving engines by nature...And Ive heard Turbos crap out at about 100k. Expensive to replace

They vary quite a bit. The difference in the two is the engine. The 550 replaced the 500 in the middle of that body styles production. Only look at the last 2 years of the E500 -or- just avoid the first year of the E550. and, this applies to the CLS-class also, it's built on an E-class chassis

I think the E550 4-matic is one of the best cars on the market right now. They are expensive to maintain but are such a great car

Those are pretty high end cars, arent they?

I've always liked the look of these cars. Get a black or pearl colored one with some rims on it and dayum they look nice. Like a poor mans Phantom.
