Pace brought his own guy in 2015 and they went hog wild with void years and can kicking on contracts. It seems weird to bring Stein back in 2020 just to move on in 2024, but I also imagine GC + "contract guy" is one of the ultimate crony positions GMs have in their toolbelt.

Its about to get buck wild with bad contracts and signing bonuses at Halas Hall in this make or break off-season. Hide the women and children.

Looks like they let him go

The team is parting ways with Cliff Stein, a senior vice president and general counsel, after nearly 22 years with the franchise.

On one hand, the news comes as a surprise given that Stein always has been highly regarded within the organization — and the league. On the other, there have been rumblings for months that President/CEO Kevin Warren might have major changes in mind after being on the job for nearly a full year.
