I believe I've had 2, but none were diagnosed.

1st one I fell off a golf cart. My brother was making a mad dash at the course and I jumped on and thought that the cart was going to tip over. So I jumped off and forgot to hit the ground running instead of hitting the ground, flying fast first into the rough (hehehe) and slide for about 5 feet.

2nd one was in college when I went to lay a hit on a teammate during a scrimmage. He was much larger then myself and was an ex football player aside from hockey. I was always one of the bigger kids in hockey, but he was much larger and stronger. At the last second I realized I was dead, and he plastered me. The on site trainer told me that I might have one, but to be careful told me to go home and rest.

The have a bunch of of seemingly random moving parts, going in different directions, strange vibrations, things not doing what they are sposeda. Helicopters don't fly. Earth rejects them from it's gravity.

Yup, and that is why I love that picture I posted (other than that I took it while in flight, and it was from the location of the sandstorm scene in Lawerence of Arabia). It the main rotor blades that I love and how flexed the are in relation to the cabin. Something just screams that gravity does not want that aircraft to come down.

Who would have thunk that a whole slew of us on here would have some brain damage? lol

I've read the posts around this this place, I am not shocked at all.

Also from everyone else's description I did not get a concussion since I was normal the next day. Just that night bothered me

I was going to respond to this thread but as I was typing I forgot what it was all about...

No in all seriousness 4 years of HS football and 2 years of college I got one. My jr year of HS in a half speed drill (shows' it's not always how hard the contact is but how it occurs) where I was pulling to block a stunting SAM and I got under him and the crown of my helmet came up and caught him under the facemask and I went cookoo for about 2 days, "was healthy" in time for the game that Friday was coming out as we were up 31-0 in the middle of the thrid, what would have been my 2nd to last play took a funny knock again and didn't pracitce again until the Thursday walk through the following week.

Other than that I've had a few momentary "where am I's" after big hits both given and recieved but none were close the what the concussion was like.

The day after it first occured I was in 2nd period Physics and my buddy who sat next to me couldn't get me to "snap out of it" for like 3 minutes. Still dunno how I convinced them I was ready to place 3 days later.

I don't know how you convinced them either but I do know you probably still had the concussion and shouldn't have played. Don't know when you were in high school but I'm sure there wasn't a whole lot of precautions taken with concussions, heck I graduated HS in 2008 and there weren't any precautions

A few years ago I was walking back down my slanted driveway after picking up the mail. I was wearing an old pair of shoes with no tread. Living in the Northwest - Olympia, WA - it was raining, of course, and there was moss covering parts of my driveway. Walking back to my house, my feet started sliding and flew out from under me and my head hit the driveway, twice, before the rest of my body landed. Luckily, I was wearing a gortex raincoat with the hood up and a baseball cap under that, or I'm sure I would have cracked my head open. I had a fairly big bump on the back of my head and was contemplating going to the ER, but said **** it, because even with health insurance, the last time I went to the ER - for a kidney stone - I still had to shell out a $1,000 from my own pocket (see, there's no problem with healthcare in this country).

Anyway, about a week later, Liam Neeson's wife, Natasha Richardson died of an epidural hematoma after suffering blunt impact to her head in a skiing accident.

BTW, The moss on the driveway has been removed.

many years before you, i graduated... 15th reunion this year in fact. Looking back it was stupid, but no harm no foul at this point. When I was coaching things had already progressed that I was very careful to return anyone before I genuinely felt the dr or at thought they were clearly ready to return. I far cared about my players health and long term well being than I ever did my own as an athlete.

It's amazing to me how many injuries occur in practice, non-contact, or at half speed. When people are a go and full out their bodys are more prepared for something to happen then during when they aren't expecting impact. Even big hits in the NFL a lot of times aren't from the play itself but from someone missing a tackle and hitting the wrong person. Just messed up how many ACLs tear in practice or non-contact drills. Concussions and such from practice.
