Ladd and Buf were the guys down there screening and banging home rebounds and we have nobody, other maybe Hayes when he develops, who is that guy now. Our defenders basically bracket and bodyguard forwards in front of our net and let them get away with camping, and our forwards are content to play the edges and try to make razor thin shots on thin angles. We need SOME net presence on both ends.

We got away with mediocre netminding for a while because we had Ladd, Byflugien, Versteeg, Bolland, Kane, Toews, and Hossa CONSTANTLY controlling the puck and we were scoring all the time. We'd take 45 shots and give up 15. These days we aren't doing that and we need someone SERIOUS behind the mask.

Not entirely true.

Cup team:
34.1 Shots/game, 25.1 Shots against/game, both 1st in the league.

11-12 team:
31.5 Shots/game, 7th in league. 28.6 Shots Against/game, 9th in league.

They fell off a bit, but they still ranked in the top 10 in the league.

If you apply a rather average SA% of .915 to that number of 28.6 Shots per game, that's a team GAA of 2.43 for the season, which would add up to 199 goals, which is the amount that Boston gave up this year, 6th best in the league.

So, I believe an average goaltender could get the job done of the Hawks, assuming that they can continue to put the puck in the net--which hasn't been the problem the last few years.

If you're going to mention Buff you have to add in that he only showed up in the postseason. He was mostly invisible in the other 82 games.

I'd take Laddy back in a hurry.

Dreger: Leafs, Hawks, Florida teams in running for Luongo

It's believed Luongo would prefer moving back to Florida, provided there's interest from either the Florida Panthers or the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks are also on the 33-year-old goalie's list, although Luongo could have reservations accepting a trade to either team given the fiercely competitive market that feeds off the Maple Leafs and the emotional scars that may still exist from his battles with the Blackhawks.

Bolland for Luongo, straight up.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

Versteeg is better than your boy Stalclown.

No kidding.

I'm not a Versteeg fan, but yes he is better.

Who said he wasn't? Versteeg is "better" than Kruger...but Salary Cap and team needs have a lot to do with it. Exactly why Suter isn't a possibility.

Versteeg currently has a cap hit of just over $3Mil and will be making more.

SALARY CAP.

:obama:
Ok ready to see the type of dumbass you are. You always say goals, goals, goals.

Versteeg had 23 goals and makes 3 mil.
Stalberg had 22 goals and makes what 850k?

What do you think is the better value?
