I choose to smoke meat in such a way that I dont have to explain sustained sipping on pale ales that starts just before noon. It is like golf, but less selfish and more nourishing for the fam.

I don't care what any of you say. If you're setting the temp and walking away from your pellet or propane smoker, you are missing the spirit of bbq. The entire god damn point is the love and attention you put into the fire and food. Maybe I'm just nostalgic.

If I am not out in my yard, I will sometimes throw some wood chips into my oven. Open up a few windows.

When I get real into my bbq mood, I will put a lil sweetbaby rays under my eyes like Urlacher and then get right into it.
I sometimes like to use wood from trees in my yard.
Anyone ever had Japanese Maple Bacon? Or Crepe Myrtle Salmon?

Sorry....my first propane smoker I was fucking with the dial every 5 minutes trying to regulate the temp. Doing that for an 18 hour brisket drove me crazy. Was going to get electric but they rank on the bottom for actual taste. And no way in hell is my wife going to allow me to get a Trager. She about crapped when I spent 300 on this one.

You dont have to buy a traeger to go pellets. Pit Boss, GMG, and several other companies make stuff that are down in the 300-400 range.

Having reviewed all posts on this thread I have reached the inescapable conclusion that all of you are probably going to die in the Coronapocolypse (well, except for @Ares whom I will keep for fighting in my Rango pit).

As an old fart I have these things called "books". I have hard copies of: The Way Things Work volumes 1&2, The entire Foxfire series, Burnhams Celestial Guidebooks, The Boy Scout Handbook (plus as a former Boy Scout I'm quite good with knots and wood craft), as well as an actual complete Encyclopedia Britannica. Basically I, and only I, am prepared to rebuild civilization to an acceptable level.

What are you boys going to do once the grid goes down and you can't Google things anymore?

Think I'll open my own compound. Show your worth at the front gate or fight and win to be let in.
