Uptown baby!
I'd say that in terms of him generally making the NHL he's still a true wildcard that could go either way---he's got the skillset and size I just still don't know if he's ever going to be able to refine the hockey IQ and make it work in conjunction with the other assets he brings. However in terms of him sticking with the Hawks the events of the last several months could easily be perceived as some bad omens for him---firstly being left out of the Black Aces playoffs call-ups and then secondly not being invited to be one of the 7 players to be sent to Switzlerand to play with Lugano the past two weeks to get some invalubale practice and skills time in with a pro team like Morin, Olsen, JHayes, and Kruger were. Could just be tough love final wakeup calls but in general it's not seeming so great for him these days considering his draft selection rank.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Having seen him in JR's, he could be something special. He just needs to get his head and ass wired togethere, and therein lies the problem--i don't know if it will happen, or if it does, if it will be with us.

Where is the patience people? 21 years old and you are ready to throw him under the bus as a "bust"? Sure he didn't put up great numbers last season, but neither did some other Hawks prospects. The entire Rockford team was practically younger pro's. Morin and Smith had roughly the same point per game average as Beach in the A.

Does Beach have a history of being a punk? Yes. But from what I remember hearing last year was that he was slowly turning around his play on the ice last season. When he's 25 and still hasn't made an impression in the AHL or NHL, then yeah, go ahead and start doubting him. But after one season in the AHL and only being 21 I'm going to wait before I start calling him a bust.

Still say Aliu part Two

Could be...

I must say after seeing them both play live about 4 or 5 times that Beach seems to be a much better and smarter player than Aliu but still lacks the maturity. Luckily he's only 21.

Too bad the Hawks didn't take Del Zotto or Myers instead that year.

At the time, I was kinda shocked at the Beach pick, although he fell to us (at the time he was rated a top 5 pick in talent) I didn't really expect the Hawks to take that type of player.

I was actually really hoping for Cody Hodgson at the time, I really thought we needed another good young center and he fit the mold combined with his leadership qualities, I thought he was really the type of player that can fit on the team. Unfortunately the Nucks took him right before us, not much we can do about that. Wilson might have been the most interesting to me, but it was unlikely he would drop that far, same with Bailey.

Joe Colbourne and Luca Sbisa were also players I liked that was in our range.

Either way, Beach has always been considered a project since he was drafted. Maybe the organization felt the need to pick him because he was the BPA, rather than fit the organizations needs. I don't think anyone thought Beach would be picked that low, maybe they were just as surprised and took him labeled him as the project since he didn't exactly cover any of the organizations needs? It's still early to call him a bust or anything close to that, I think the organization is just trying to find his role here, I'm not even sure he knows at this point.

I am with you on a few points, and I started the thread just to get some traffic going on the boards cause they've been dead. But again, Beach has been left off of what would seem a must for a top pick. He isn't on the roster for the Rookie tournament against the Leafs, Ottawa, and Pitts rookies. At this point management has to have big problems with him, wasn't invited to the playoffs, now left off this roster.

I wouldn't have put him in the prospects tourny too, to me he is too old. Do I think he needs to smarten up? Of Course, but I'm not willing to write off a very talented player who has played one year in the pros with a terrible Rockford team. Look at Detroit, they don't rush anyone along, and like the fact that we haven't been either. It's not like Beach doesn't have the talent to play in the NHL this year, but the roster is basically set already. Morin, Smith, Beach, Pirri etc. won't make the team, and Beach will be last out of the four as a call up strictly because of his huge cap hit.

There was a quote of his recently where he said that he was upset about not being invited and that he knows he needs to work harder. Something to that effect. Don't remember the exact quote.

Now we've caught the guy in a lie?

Really the more I think of it, the more I wish he developed and became what he's capable of. He would help this team immensely.

I don't know how anyone, ANYONE, could be dense enough not to join an NHL team during the playoffs.

If he did DECLINE, are you guys that would know, sure he didn't have something else going on in his life? Family issues? etc...

I just don't buy that a guy would flat out decline an invitation to the black aces because he "didn't feel like it" then lie publicly with all of the social media outlets and such that are around today.

Something doesn't add up either way...

My thoughts exactly. How could one decline the offer? And I do not agree with those who think Beach being left off the Rookie tournament is a good decision, there are older guys than him and at this point he needs all the experience he can get.
