Criminal Background Checks for Employment...

First, the question about convictions is on every application for a serious job.

Second, if you have to get a finger print card because you are working in a school, they will probably find it. Its almost guaranteed they will.

Third, they aren't gonna give a **** about it. Just say no and if they ever find it and bring it up just play dumb and be like, oh wow, I forgot all about that. As far as your finger print clearance card, that is not conducted by the school. If they deny you the card because of your conviction, you will be able to fill out an appeal where you just explain it was 30 years ago and you were a dumb ass kid and you will get your card.

No need to make waves... if it comes up I'll just seem shocked and say I didn't even realize that was a crime in the 80s!
Again... that's if they look back that far... or if they give a shit... and I have to win the job in the mean time...

Thanks for all the input... I sure I'm making something out of nothing and should just let it ride... minor mistake at worst... I will let you know what happens if anything... It's my first job hunt and interview in 28 years so I'm really in virgin territory here...

I work in the school system and you always have to get a criminal background check to work there. They will do a state and and FBI check. With yours being so minor, and 30 years ago, I doubt it will be an issue. If you want to tell them you made the error go for it as I don't really see that being the reason they wouldn't hire you if you are the one they end up wanting for the position. Are they making you pay for the background check or is the school covering it?

Where you from that you got written up for being 18 and drinking? Cops around me don't care if kids are drinking. once me and my buddies got caught with a case of beer when I was 13 and the cop just said "13? jesus christ. alright well just just throw your cans in that garbage can when you're done, don't litter."
