Nobody would deny that the Cubs have more fans, but let's also admit that a decent number - being fair I'll say 8% of most Cub home game game attendance is there for the Wrigley atmosphere and not the Cubs games. Especially during the weekend.

This knock on Cubs "fans" has been overblown for a long time now. Their road attendance has always been fantastic relative to the rest of the league, and while there was a time when the only reason to show up to Wrigley was to get drunk and watch Sammy hit a few dingers, beginning with the 2004 collapse and especially after 2008-2009 the fanbase became much more "demanding" when it came to the product on the field. By the time Ricketts took over, the onetime "Wrigley faithful" were voting with their wallets and simply stopped showing up until the org proved it had put itself on firm footing.

Who is doubting that the Cubs for some time now outdraw the Sox?

I don't think anyone would look at those statistics and think one area is 'nicer' than the other. I do however think the statistics dispel a widely held belief about the area surrounding the Cell.

I worked about 2 blocks from the park for about 15 years. It all depends on which direction you head. Immediately north and west of the park is Bridgeport which is basically a nice little old fashioned Italian neighborhood. Any other direction goes from poor going south to horrid going east. But in the end....it's Chicago and you can be in danger most anywhere in that city.

I live in the Bay Area in California and you can usually get an outfield or bleacher seat for a Giants game for about 20 bucks. When the Cubs are in town they jump to 50 for the cheap seats and are always sold out. So if it happens here I am sure it happens most everywhere.
