Gameday suggests Shark got screwed on the 2-2 call.

I've noticed that his "slider" has almost straight up-and-down motion as opposed to the sweeping horizontal motion you'd normally associate with a slider. It's almost like a power curve.

I'm checking the pitch path on Gameday and also remembering what I've seen from his previous starts. I don't think Samardzija's pitches have that much side-to-side movement but they seem to be very effective.

I've always heard that vertical movement was more important than horizontal movement, but I don't know if that is true or not. If you can throw 95+ heat and then mix in some offspeed stuff with that amount of drop and a 10 mph difference, I think you can be pretty effective.

Threw a fastball that caught too much of the plate to Heyward with two outs.

Darwin Barney of course has to make two outs with the Cubs having runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out.

He's throwing way too many pitches. He's not going to last very long.

And that's what she said.

No but he could still turn in a quality start if he can get a quick out following the double play ball.

I enjoy DeJesus' ABs. Even if he makes an out he's forcing the pitcher to throw tons of pitches. That's good.
