And we strand the runner. Why not Cardenas?

Camp has been pretty good as of late. I wouldn't mind letting Camp get some saves to try to improve his value before the deadline. A cheap effective bullpen arm ought to net us a decent piece at the deadline.

My guess is that Sveum was planning a few moves ahead. If the Cards had a LOOGY in the pen then Matheny was likely to go to the LOOGY and negate the platoon advantage even though I think Cardenas still would've hit against a lefty. Might as well waste your shitty pinch-hitter and save your good one for another time. Not that I agree with it though, but just playing devil's advocate.

He's kind of old as dirt though so that may count against him.

Could be but I didn't see them announce anyone warming up in the pen.

Oh you aren't going to get anything spectuclar, but teams always need relievers. And a veteran having a good year making league minimum ought to net you something.

He'll net something, but I doubt it'll be long-term useful something.

I think you can get a better piece than Lee, Fukudome, or Byrd got. Yeah it isn't going to be a huge piece, but it is something that ought to get you a guy or two with some upside.

Terrible sac bunt try by Castro. Lucky it wasn't caught.

That was a bad decision by Sveum because even if it was successful it would take the bat out of LaHair's hand. Sveum needs to sit Castro.

This is the first time I am really upset with a call by Sveum.

Castro has the work ethic of Ramirez....

How can a career 1-2 hole hitter not:

1. Get a decent bunt down
2. At least HUSTLE when the bunt is shitty?

His lack of hustle didn't allow LaHair to hit with 1st base occupied.
