Ya, the bathrooms need fixing. They seem to put all the money into the field and future spring training stadium now.

Ricketts sounds like he's putting the money on us having the landmark status..

If the state doesn't pay up some with updating costs for making Wrigley a landmark.. Ricketts will eventually move the team to a new stadium.

My money should not go to this, like B and B said today on their show, enough with owners not having the money....dont buy the god damn team. if you want upgrades pay for them yourself, not the tax payers.

I love Ricketts man the glory of having an actual owner instead of being owned by a dumb company....

WGN said the money wouldn't come from taxpayers. I don't know how not, but it's what they said.

As a Cub fan, I could care less if they fix the stadium-field.

I don't understand why the state wouldn't treat the Cubs like any other bank would. I mean, they would only be paying the difference in amusement tax revenues from some benchmark onward towards the bonds, or something like that? Fuck that, you want the money up front? Fine, but you're going to pay us back in a certain amount of time, with interest.

I guess technically it wouldn't come directly from the tax payers. The money would come from the revenue generated by the state amusement tax, apparently, which isn't technically "from the taxpayers", I guess.

Isn't the amusement tax added to the price of tickets though?

Yeah, but it won't necessarily be an increase in those taxes. Renovations = more tickets = more tax revenue. But even then, the money going to pay off the bonds (which were funded from tax revenue in the first place) will be from tax-paying ticket-buyers, so I don't know what made WGN say that.
