If it's just a tax on tickets though, then what's the big deal? Just by a ticket from a season ticket holder on stubhub.

ehh sortof but not really..

its more from that part of the budget.. the tax that you pay on basically any ticket in the city for sports, events.. etc.. goes into that part of the budget..

basically Ricketts is saying that the Cubs take up a large chunk of that taxable income.. so the money should be coming back to help keep the Cubs at Wrigley.

I don't understand why the state wouldn't treat the Cubs like any other bank would. I mean, they would only be paying the difference in amusement tax revenues from some benchmark onward towards the bonds, or something like that? **** that, you want the money up front? Fine, but you're going to pay us back in a certain amount of time, with interest.

that is how corporations work. the amusement tax is a loophole that ricketts can use, and the state can deny this which would force the ricketts to take out a loan through a lender, which may not be able to be done due to any outstanding loans through the incorporation.

Ricketts is pretty loaded. He can't just pay for it himself?

Sure it does, but my view is until Illinois is running a $200 million surplus in their budget and all debts are paid off...this should not be funded by taxpayers.

That's never gonna happen.. At least we aren't Texas though.. they are like 25 billion in debt.. With a so called "fiscal conservative" at the helm.
