Seeing how he always has to PH for Ross after 2 ABs, wouldn't it just be easier and probably better to just start montero against lefties ? He cant do any worse..

Russell has been the achilles heel in the lineup tonight. Came up in two big situations. The life of a young player.

Joey Gallo is going off for the Rangers.

2 for 2 with 4 RBI's and a monster homer.

Lol.. meaningless one. .

Guy threw 3 meatballs after 3 n 0 count..

Basically pitching not to walk him and let him make an out or face the pitcher ...

Told ya they were gonna struggle with this lineup. .

seems like they can only generate offense with Rizzo and Bryant involved...

Stupid mistake by Russell

I disagree. The mistake was by the 3rd base coach. There was absolutely no reason to stop Castro or Russell. There was no way Stanton was throwing anywhere but into 2nd base so the hitter couldn't advance into scoring position. It was not a line drive where the runners needed to hold up and it was not hit hard where either runner would have had any problem advancing 2 bases. Classic case of overthinking caused that mess.

So, IOW, you wanted either Castro thrown out at home or Russell easily thrown out at 3rd. Behind three runs? Great call on your part trading outs for runs, when you don't have enough outs to give up.

Not totally disagreeing but....

Down 3 runs in 9th, coaches tend to be less aggressive with base runners. ..

Russell should be looking at 3rd base coach or even runner ahead of him and not running with head turned or down to where he doesn't see what going on in front of him..

Im ok with the aggressiveness but have to know where their at game wise and be ok with station to station at that point.

Still it was 4 runs given up by Hendricks. We all knew he had to be perfect again to get a win. He put up a regular production game and it came up short. I would have dropped Bryant down to #4. If you are going to move Russell you move him up to #2 not #6.

Over all Losing Soler sucked. Herrera is a loss of production. Lake had a good game but you can not depend on him every time doing that. If Szczur started in LF batting #2 Bryant hitting #4 thus dropping Lake to 5 and Castro to 6 they could have had a better chance.

Makes me think they should promote Baez. Seeing the team unravel by losing Montero and Soler like that is plain sad. Adding another impact bat lessens the loss.

Fowler 2 for 4. Lake 2 for 4. Castro 1 for 3 and a BB.
Wasn't talking about hits alone. .

Was talking more with getting hits to produce runs..

Fowler n Lake with Rizzo produced the 2 runs in 3rd inning.
Again Rizzo was involved..

My point is , others need to step up when Rizzo and Bryant aren't involved. ..

Like I said, there was no way Stanton was throwing that ball anywhere but into second. Castro had home easily and Russell had 3rd easily. Obviously Russell should have been picking up his coach but it's still my opinion that coach was over thinking a really simple play.
