Sign Hamels, Greinke, have Garza, Shark, Maholm. We'll be like the phillies. Best pitching on a last place team in baseball.
10 ks for the Cubs through 4 2/3.
awesome.
Yeah I am glad I went with a movie for the kid tonight. Honestly, the only thing that is upsetting is Maholm not pitching well. If he could have kept his ERA down around 4 they probably could have flipped his friendly deal for a decent prospect or two.
He had that good stretch of 4 games and has sucked all other starts. Now we know why he never had winning record in his career
Might also have to do something with the fact that he has played on a team that hasn't had a .500 record in nearly two decades...
Maholm is a lefty that can be a league average starter. For what the Cubs are paying him that is fine. If he could have pitched closer to what he did last season there was a chance to swap him for something of value. Nothing amazing, but signing guys on short term deals and flipping for specs is just one way to help rebuild the system. Unfortunately he isn't pitching at that level. He sure didnt help lol
Marmol just got rocked. 2 singles and then Bomb
* The Cubs have made 20 moves on the 25-man roster in the last 23 days beginning May 16. The most recent moves include Friday when they claimed right-handed pitcher Jairo Asencio from the Indians and right-handed pitcher Michael Bowden was designated for assignment. On Wednesday, the Cubs placed right-handed pitcher Blake Parker on the 60-day disabled list and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Manuel Corpas from Triple-A Iowa.
Ascenio and corpas were decent last night. that's a plus.
