It depends on what they pay him. This is the type of signing that could be huge if we're getting him when he's undervalued. He was out of the league in 2008 and 2009 and last year was his first full season since then.

The VALUE does nothing to help the team WIN!!! I care about WINS!!!! Not if he gets fucking value. I WANT WINS!!!

Couldn't agree more. I want wins too. If the Cubs had an unlimited payroll, we wouldn't have to look at dollars. But they don't... so we do. The Cubs can only spend so much money. They have to get the most wins out of the financial resources given to them. If you can get 2 wins for 2 million dollars or 5 wins for 18 million dollars, which is better? The 2 million is because you can use the 16 million you save to "buy wins" in other areas.

and............who gives a ****?

Yeah. Let's look like a site of r3tards. Good plan.
**** value for the dollar, I want the best players fielded to win a World Series, not a black friday special player.

I want to win a WS too. But we can't get all the best players. This isn't 2k12.

Get off the value thing. The real Cub fans care about whats going to help team win NOW or in future. Capuano DOESNT DO EITHER!!! Cashner has POTENTIAL. So lets see what he does over the next 1 or 2 years. Then by 2014 when fans expect to compete we will know if he part of it cause Capuano WILL NOT BE!!!

Potential doesn't equal wins. Mark Prior has the potential to be the best pitcher in baseball. I guess we should sign him, huh? You can chose to ignore value all you want. I love how you completely ignore the fact that Cashner just had TJ surgery. But yeah, let's throw him out there for 180 innings. Let's see how that one turns out for us.

Or the fact that there are no quality pitchers outside of Buehrle and Wilson on the market......

Capuano is a scrap heap signing.

But, he can surprise, and I'm not banking on that.

no shit tool. but if you are going to build a team you dont:
Trade Garza
Let Aram go
Replace OBP of Fuke with Dejesus
Possibly move zambrano

So what does cap do for you than?

Think before you just spew out Bullshit.

Or he can perform the way they expect he will perform(something similar to last year, I would assume). If he does that he will get our money's worth and then some.

What makes you think that the Cubs are planning on winning this year? Nothing they have said makes me think that way at all.

Why would this signing be so bad anyway? Capuano is a 2-3 win pitcher for 2 million dollars roughly. I didn't know that was so bad.

That's just it, I'm seeing more of last year as a fluke, instead of the standard. Capuano has been bitten by the injury bug during his career.

Clearly the Cubs at least plan on competing if they're going to spend money on Dejesus and other free agents.

If the Cubs don't want to win now, it's pointless to sign a guy like Capuano, while holding back development of prospects.

I don't see how you can say that last year was either the standard or the fluke. It was his first full year since being out of the league for 2 years. I just think that the Cubs will expect what he did last year again. If it is the fluke, we lose out on 2 million dollars. If it is the standard or he improves, we're the winners. He doesn't even have to be that good for the Cubs to get their value out of him.

What prospect is Capuano holding back?

What I'm getting now is that they're doing similar things to what Hendry did in 09 and 10 and get guys like Byrd, and Gorezlanny(spelling). I hated that BS.

This is how i feel. If they going to sign guys spend it on guys who are legit players, not ball players that play for bad teams for there whole career cause on winning teams they are role players. Rather see the young guys. I get bitched at cause i hate specs. I rather see specs given chance then these bums

You can hate it all you want. Gorzo and Byrd both outperformed their contracts. They were good moves.

OK?

That means nothing because it didn't lead to the desired result of getting to the playoffs.

Chicago Cubs outfielder David DeJesus had no problem signing with a team in transition after spending the last nine years playing on similar teams.

“I’ve been in transition with Kansas City, Oakland,” the new Cubs free-agent acquisition said Thursday at Wrigley Field.

AKA im here cause the team is bad and team signed me to make stupid cub fans happy. So now we are comparing KCR and OAK with CHC. That is fucking joke. Cubs have so many resources and shouldnt be signing "VALUE" type of guys. They should be getting legit ball players.

Oh excuse me. That's right, shoulder problems are no big deal.

Cashner can not pitch a full season anyway. McNutt is not ready. Shark sucks as a SP. We've learned that. If there was anyone who had a legit chance at being in the rotation, what makes you think that Hoystein wouldn't give them a shot? Do you really think that they are trying to sabotage the Cubs farm system?

Winning teams, losing teams, it doesn't make a difference. You need to understand this. I don't see why you're against getting value. You complain about the Cubs giving too much money to players. Then when they give out too little, you still complain. Is there no pleasing you?

You're correct. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't make more good signings in the future. It means that it didn't work out. These signings are the perfect role player signings. The problem is the nucleus just hasn't been good enough.

Why cant Cashner pitch 150 IP? Not saying he needs to go 200 IP + but could very well get 150 IP in. Shark is only 26. He just learning to become a pitcher. They guy during college didnt concentrate soley on baseball. McNutt very well could be ready by middle of season. So again why waste money on a SP who never done anything to help anyteam win.

If i was a fan of a small or medium market team then sure i can understand "VALUE" but Cubs are a big market team. Cubs should be looking for players to help them WIN not just get value. Honestly would Capuano or DeJesus make NYY, PHI, or even BOS team? And dont give me this crap that Theo was trying to get him in 2010. If he wanted him he would have had him over OAK.
