There are a bunch of front running fair weather fans for the Cubs this year and frankly if you've just starting following the Cubs this year you aren't a real Cubs fan. I wish some of these idiots would go away.

The Cubs have always had the most bandwagon jumping fans in MLB. I was at those games in the 80s where 3000 fans showed up every day. Or in the 60s- through 80s where the upper deck wasnt even open. The majority of current Cubs fans are there to drink and scams chicks in the bars outside the park. This is why St. Louis and Boston have better and more knowledgable fans

Agreed, Cubs fans are the absolute worst kinds of people. Fat, loud, and obnoxious. Not to mention, stupid idiots.

Expanding the fanbase = bad

Got it.

I've followed the Red Sox nearly as long as I have the Cubs. I'm a fan even though the Cubs come first. Don't be too quick to elevate their fans. You clearly haven't listened to Boston sports radio or spent much time at Fenway. They are enthusiastic, smarter than Cubs fans? Not so much.

I attended the Cubs/Cards game on Tuesday evening in St. Louis. I was amazed at the Cubs jerseys, shirts, and hats at the game. I won't go as far to say it was 50 - 50, but it was better than 40 - 60 Cubs fans to Cards fans, which is amazing if you understand the Cardinals fan base and their disdain for the Cubs. I sat in the lower RF seats and that section was chocked full of Cubbies fans, including myself, my daughter, and my son-in-law. I also found it funny that the Cardinal security wasn't amused when Moss hit his go ahead HR in our section, which was gracefully snagged mid-air by a Cubbies fan, and in true Wrigley fashion, he chucked it back onto the field and then was asked to leave the stadium. The Cub faithful in that area gave him a standing ovation on his way out of the park.

A few of you can ***** and moan about "fair weather" fans or bandwagon fans, but let's be honest here....since the Bartman incident in 03', this is the first full season that the Cubbies look the part of being WS contenders. With the ability to watch the Cubs via tv, computer, etc., or getting pitch by pitch on your smartphone, it has been easier for "out of towners"to follow the Cubs through media, than to spend $200 - $400 for a family of four to attend a road game in cheap seats and fund an opposing teams payroll, when, most of the time, you can watch with a better view on TV. If that is the definition of a fair weather fan, then I am guilty. I am 48 years old and have been a Cub fan as far back as I could comprehend what being a "fan" was all about. I used to attend Cubs games with my grandfather every other weekend (lived in Indy) on a regular basis....way back before Wrigley had lights...and to categorize "Lifers" like me as a bandwagon fan because it is more convenient and cost effective for me to attend a game in St. Louis than it is to attend a game at Wrigley, even when this organization "battled" to have a .500 year is pretty narrow-minded in my opinion. Omeletpants, it is people like you that give the Cards fans the appearance of being more knowledgeable and better fans. if you were a TRUE BLUE Cubs fan, you would have been at Busch Stadium this week cheering on the Cubbies to clinch the division in the dirty birds home park. I have been to Wrigley twice a year for the last 10 years...have you travelled to watch the Cubs play?

Bandwagon fans? People don't want to spend $1000 on tickets to go see a loser. That's what the TV is for.

I live in St Louis. I like that their fans support the team like they do. But better and more knowledgable? Don't kid yourself.

They have been on a long run of success yet routinely fans leave before the game ends, and like anywhere radio call in shows and online forums are full of fans criticizing, whining and calling for firings.

Their fans are self appointed as thebest inbaseball. Don't kid yourself.

Will the cubs have "bandwagon fans"? Of course. Happens everywhere.

Are the whippersnappers as knowledgable, passionate and brilliant as us older fans? Of course not! How could they be? ?

Cards fans have warmed up their bullshit response to Cubs success forever.

"They tanked! They bought it! Thet are in a bigger market! The league wants them to win! " Who cares?!

I saw 1969.

I saw Larry Biitner lose a ball in his hat. And waa there when he mopped up in relief as the Expos swept a July 4th DH.

I watched when Bill Buckner hobbled around the bases injured as the only guy on the team with a clue.

I suffered thru Bump Wills!

I saw the Cubs allow 22 at home, and not score.

I saw them score 22 at home, and lose!

I saw them allow 4 HRs to Mike Schmidt in a loss- (no, that wasn't the 23-22 game).

I suffered the Bartman game.

I have seen a parade of slow, HR happy, bad defenders as the philosophy was to be a HR hitting team.

I root for an organization that once couldn't pick a single manager, and instead shared the position- the college of coaches!

I root for an organization that promoted the head of concessions to GM!

I have watched live when Ernie hit #500, and when Rick Monday saved the flag.

I stood in Wrigley on the final day in 1984 with chills as the first playoff team of my lifetime took a victory lap to chants of "We want the Cubs"!

I sat in The Cubby Bear - the small, dark Cubby Bear - while fans chanted "We're number one!" on a day the Cubs took over first place - in May!

Nothing - NOTHING - any knucklehead says is going to bother me a bit when the Cubs win it all. I know that may not be 2016. But it will happen.

So let the Cards fans and Ommy say what they want. It doesn't matter.

Anyone discussing fair weather fans will get laughed at with a hardy "F@#& You"! ?

I hate shit like this. Have I been a fan my whole life? Yes. Am I going to act like I'm better than some new fan jumping on the bandwagon (who maybe never had any interest in baseball before but will forever now)? **** no.

Lol. St Louis fans are inbreds who wear jorts and have mullets. Half of them don't have the Internet. They only thing they are better than us is at tooth decay.

Big deal. I saw all those things plus:

-I saw Willie Mays live before he turned into a broken down hack

-Ate a Ron Santo pizza and survived

-Watched my friend Taco pee into the sink at Wrigley

-Paid $1.75 for what is now a box seat behind the opponents dugout

-Brought food from Franksville outside the stadium and bring it inside without getting thrown out

-Saw all three Alou brothers play for the Pirates in one game

Got it.

It not bad but these so called fans will not be supporting the team if it starts losing. Cubs fans tend to be obnoxious frat boy types who just go to the games to drink and act stupid. I have been a die hard fan for over 25 years and the Cubs have won a total of 10 times in 25 years. Many of those years the Cubs finished dead last. I have also been a season ticket holder for 20 years. I don't drink and know a lot about baseball. I don't think there are better fans in any sports than true Cubs fans. :)

You guys crack me up. Were all die hard fans because there really is no such thing as a true "fair weather" cubs fan. There hasn't been enough fair weather. I'm actually happy to see the Cubs play road games where the best player (Braun) is booed mercilessly. But most of these people who have bought their first Cubs jersey this year don't know shit about the team.

I was there when Andre Dawson hit his 47th HR in 1987 and won the MVP on a last place team that sucked
I was at game 1 in 1989 when Will Clark launched one out of the park.
I was at games 6 and 7 in 2003 where I literally wanted to puke after coming 5 outs from the pennant.
God willing I will be at the first World Series game since 1945. I just got the playoff tickets in the mail and I'm looking at 4 tickets for games 3,4, and 5.

This years team is by far the best team I have ever seen in my life. I have never seen a team with such great starting pitching and such potent bats 1-5. Next year is 2016!!

GO CUBS!!!!

Every team has fair weather fans who only support the team when they are good. Bigger cities tend to have more. I watch the Cubs even when they suck. And they've sucked most of my life. But it's a heck of a lot more interesting when guys like Kris Bryant and Jon Lester are playing -- as opposed to Marlon Byrd and Xavier Nady.

Look at the Blackhawks. Twelve years ago, nobody gave a crap. In 2015, we had like 2 million people at the Parade. If the Cubs win the World Series, the Parade could have 5 million people. It might be the biggest championship Parade of any sports team in US history.
