Cashner is more valueable than Russell.... so yeah that's a LOL because Byrnes would have to be stone out of his mind.

I can't see a possibilty that Rizzo does not get called up next year. Hoyer said their going to have to go through pain - youth developement. Playin' LaHair does nothing.

That makes no sense. Why would the Cubs keep Garza? That goes against everything that they have done this offseason.
!

why would they not if teams lose interest because of his price?...just because they're looking to trade him...doesnt mean he will be traded

our pitching will be weak regardless of if garza is on the team or not...but having him to front the rotation would help

there is no guarantee that garza will be traded...

Yeah, I don't think the Cubs have done anything to this point other than to field offers for Garza. They don't have to trade him if they don't get what they want.

Love this deal. Rizzo is the #1 1B prospect according to MLB.com

I don't take anything Thoyer says with more than a grain of salt. I think that once Rizzo is raking, they'll call him up.

See the series of quotes at the end of this post.

Right... because it's not like I have said that I prefer Rizzo to Fielder.

Exactly!

Who cares? We're not done yet... it doesn't matter.

Exactly. They aren't going to do that.

Now for the quotes...

Bingo!

Damn, really thought wee got rid of this clown.

Context.

It doesn't change the Cubs stance on him..because they never wanted him to begin with.

Yeah -- that's what I assumed as well (or at least, don't want him @ his current terms). Figured leaving it like it would would bring more chatter.

Russo had no place in SD after they got Alonzo in the Latos trade. Love the acquisition, but in a rebuilding year why are they starting AAAA player LaHair?

They kind of have to see what they have with LaHair and maybe try to trade him for something more useful in the long run. Probably also a service time thing.

Plus it probably wouldn't hurt to let Rizzo mash in the PCL for a little bit to get his confidence up after his poor performance in his September callup.

Was it just September? He played 49 games last year...or at least appeared in 49.

You just made my argument for me. It's going to be weak regardless if Garza is in there or not. So why pay him 8 million dollars when you could pay Paul Maholm less than half of that to eat the same number of innings.

No, there is no guarantee. But all you have to do is look at the writing on the wall and it shouldn't be hard to see that Garza is going. Likely for a package including Jacob Turner. Especially since we just traded one of our top pitching prospects. We need to make up for that loss.

I knew the day SDP got Alonso that Rizzo was coming to the Cubs. Ready to watch the young boys play this summer. Rizzo, Jackson, Castro + who ever else they get in Garza deal
