i love this trade. i got to see rizzo a couple times in the minors and the kid has some serious power. it does suck to see cashner go but i think we won the trade.

Because they use a lot of radiation and chemotherapy there's always the chance for a second malignancy to pop up. Depends on the individual's health and genetics and also a bit of luck. If he is fine for about 5-10 years after the cancer was zapped he's probably okay.

Pena had a good glove but he didn't exactly have a lot of range. Most defensive metrics suggest that Pena was also below average despite the eye test, so it's hard to know.

Basically, if a schlub like me can scoop balls out of the dirt playing beer league softball, just about any first baseman in MLB can too. Even Prince Fielder :lol: First base defense is important but I also think it can be overrated.

definitely, i think that gold glove he won in 08 was also influenced by his overall performance that year

castro will continue to improve as well..not to mention the fact we'll have a better defensive 3rd basemen

Yeah, that's ridiculous... I was hoping Prince and the Cubs were gone for good. I'm pissed, they are not going to offer a lengthy contract and block Rizzo. How would that make sense?

To be honest I am not certain what Rizzo would take since prospect for prospect trades are kind of rare, and the only prospect the Cubs have close to value of Rizzo is Jackson.

A deal with McNutt and Cashner as centerpieces likely wouldn't even be sneezed at by the Padres.

My whole point is that the Padres aren't even going to look at an offer for a Rizzo centered around an injury prone pitcher and McNutt.

My statement is Cashner and McNutt wouldn't be enough. And one or the other as a centerpiece wouldn't be enough.
