That was a pretty slick forceout to end the sixth inning. EJax is probably done here and gets the no decision unless the Cubs can pull ahead here.

EJax being exactly who we thought we were signing....a mediocre #2 pitcher.....Quality starts are nice...but a quality start can equate to a 4.5 era (6+ ip, 3- er). meh.

JD was mentioning it again tonight, but it seems like EJax has gone to being a two pitch pitcher. Combine that with the decling fastball velocity and I am getting a little worried that he isn't going to be the high 3/low 4 ERA guy that takes the ball every fifth day.

Rondon was decent again. Interesting up and downs fielding his position.

Personally, I think EJax will re-adjust to being a three-pitch pitcher in time. Most pitchers seem to develop and re-develop pitches as their fastball loses velocity. We'll see though. I didn't love the signing, but it's what we have.

Marmol w/ the sketchy save. Hooray, we beat one of the few teams worse than us!

Thank god we are playing probably the only team as bad/worse than we are right now.

Agreed, we need to take advantage of this 8 game stretch, otherwise the season is going to get out of hand real fast. The Cubs early season schedule was pretty tough stretch considering the Cubs had to play nearly half of the playoff teams last year to start the year, and weren't much better against the rest (4-5 compared to 3-9).

May thru Octobers schedule is going to be brutal for this team also. Just aim high and go for the #1 draft pick. If you are going to suck, suck royally.

Sappelt gets a leadoff hit on the first pitch. Be nice to jump on this guy early givne his first inning struggles.

Castro nearly hit it past Coughlan.

A cpl days ago one of my buddy's said he see's Rizzo as Adam Dunn 2.0. I disagreed at the time, saying he's a better fielder and will hit for a higher average and probably a little less power and fewer walks.

Right now, Rizzo's making him look pretty correct.

Of course, that same buddy just compared Gio Bernard (RB/UNC that Bengals just drafted) to Barry Sanders...soo......

I would gladly take Adam Dunn's peak from Anthony Rizzo, but I think they are two different players.
