Judging from what Q has said, he will not be a bench player and don't bother to acknowledge that he is Asian. It's not like we would want to appeal to the billion+ people in Asia.

Right, play him just because he's Asian, even when we have a better and younger player who could be playing instead of him.

Eh get a share of the Asian market could bring in more money.

It's not the worst idea in the world.

CO's the one who thinks we will compete, so that would be a bad idea to play a player just because he's Asian at the expense of the team.

Well to be fair if used correctly Fukudome should probably be starting on this team over Colvin. Fukudome has on base skills that really no one else other than Soto and Pena have.

Plus I REALLY don't trust Colvin.

Ya, his on-base is good and he player better last season, but now that the RF job has been handed over to a young player (Colvin), it seems pretty dumb to take it away from him, when he performed well in it.

Oh I agree Colvin should definitely be given the starters role (barring an awful spring by him and an amazing spring by Fukudome), but I am just very wary of Colvin.

Fair enough. There are always concerns with a sophomore player coming off of an injury.

When was the RF job handed over to Colvin? Nothing has said that. On the contrary, Q has eluded to Fukudome being the one starting.

Just going to contribute to the countdown to spring training,

From Tim Sheridan of BoysofSpring.com twitter-

Ultimate Cubs team player Marlon Byrd was busy yesterday working on base running techniques with Tyler Colvin at Fitch Park in Mesa.

Getting closer!

Colvin was given the job in June. He became the starter. Quade gave Fukudome some playing time in his first few weeks as manager, while still allowing Colvin time, and then Colvin got stabbed with the bat and his season was over.

I think Colvin should start in RF. I think Colvin could be 270 25 HR guy in MLB....fukudome will be again for 4 straight years 260 12 hr guy... Rather give the guy with upside a chance.

See, when daddies likes the young player over the veteran, you KNOW the young player must be better. :smug:

And agreed.

Why is 15 his max, when he hit 20 last year in a more limited role and missing the last 2 weeks of the season?
