hindsight is 20/20....the rami deal looked good at the time but 14 mil in 2011 makes him extremely overpaid based on his production that last couple of years. It would have been a huge blessing if he declined his player option for 2011. No brainer for Rami....who else would give an injury prone .250 hitter 14 mil?

He and D-Lee were both injured last year, both Rami picked up some spark at the end of the season and somewhat saved his season.

Stop. I'm not going to reply to this post, because you used BA. It is the world's worst stat. Ever.

Average doesn't matter, Z has never had an ERA under 4, wind doesn't have much to do with BA... but like I said, it doesn't matter, and calm the **** down.

LMFAO Since when? If you are getting paid 10 Mil you better be able to hit over .200 (unless your a pitcher)

Someone has to get a hit to move that man who walked into scoring position... and it's going to take another hit to score him.

His BABIP was incredibly low. That means that he makes more contact than it looks like, he just hasn't gotten them to drop in for many hits lately.

I think Pena would hit fairly well in the NL Central... I'd certainly take something like .270 and 30ish home runs with a .350+ OBP. That'd be fantastic.

It also means he hasnt been gettting the job done when it counts.

The guy had some big health issues last year with his foot... I can't imagine that it's easy to hit well when it feels like you're walking on glass anytime you take a step.

But according to CO, the Cubs have no bad contracts. :lmao:

I bet I could think of a worse one. :smug:

Yeah, maybe SBs. Or saves. Or W-L records.

His BABIP was incredibly low. That means that he makes more contact than it looks like, he just hasn't gotten them to drop in for many hits lately.

Basically...

I think Pena would hit fairly well in the NL Central... I'd certainly take something like .270 and 30ish home runs with a .350+ OBP. That'd be fantastic.

Except if he hits .270, he'd have an OBP of about .400. .270 is about as high as he is going to hit. If he does, he will have a great season. I am looking for him to hit in the .230 range, which would be about a .350 or .360 OBP and with a .490ish SLG, he'll be pretty good.
It also means he hasnt been gettting the job done when it counts.

Not true. BABIP doesn't take into account any situational hitting. At all. Oh, and with RISP, he had a .826 OPS... so yeah, he doesn't get it down when it matters.

He keeps saying that AVG is a bad stat, why use that to argue with him?
