What would Cub fans do with themselves after they found out how much greater The Cell is than The Cage Aka Wrigley Field

I do like how the Cell has wider walkways and a big screen and is generally a better ballpark in terms of amenities, but there's something sort of stale and mechanical about the park. Wrigley is a nice place to watch a baseball game once you get to your seats, but having to wade through a sea of people due to the cramped quarters is really annoying.

Crap like that I guarantee will happen post remodel...nothing anyone can do about it.

I think if they're doing a remodel they'll probably try really hard to get rid of as many obstructed views as possible. They'd probably have to tear down the upper deck to do so, however.

I believe a complete renovation will happen.I'm sure ricketts will hire a good designer to design a cool looking new stadium(unlike Soldier field) I think in the end the city will approve the renovation project.

Which means all landmark status will be removed so that wrigley can be demolished to the ground and rebuilt with a new structure.

The old structure HAS to be replaced. It's just WAY to old now.If Ricketts isn't allowed to tear down wrigley, cubs could/would have to build a complete new stadium(with help from the state and the taxpayers)

Bold 1: Chicago doesn't need another spaceship.

Bold 2: The city of Chicago will be paying for Soldier Field for the next 30 years. Another unnecessary burden is the last thing they need.

I hope not.

Two teams sharing a field would be a disaster on the grounds (grass).

I think you have to ultimately look at the finances. The Cubs spending a year or two at the Cell would give the Sox money, but in the grand scheme of things, the Cubs are the White Sox biggest competitor for money in the summer. If the Sox are the only baseball team in town, that will draw in a lot of people.

Reinsdorf also has the final say, and he has said he won't allow the Cubs to play there because the Cubs wouldn't let the Sox play at Wrigley while they were building the New Comiskey.

IIRC, I think they're building their new executive hq's there. But don't hold it against me.

That is the most logical reason I've seen for why they shouldn't share the stadium. Kudos. With basically 162 home games the grounds crew would never have enough time to recover and then the Cell would look like Soldier Field at the end of the season.

This is more of a rumor though and I think the Cubs are going to try to do as much as they can to Wrigley Field over the offseason, although I don't know how the construction unions feel about trying to do work over the winter especially when most winters won't be as mild as what we've had this season.

There's a stretch of land along the Clark Street side adjacent to Wrigley that they were thinking of putting a "Triangle Building" to do the executive HQ thing. The McDonald's plot of land was just purchased but they didn't actually release a plan as far as I could tell.
