Prolly a reason why Beane would never want to come to the Cubs. He wouldnt know what to do with guys in the system. I also like the idea of having guys with tools but its also important to have OBP as we are learning. To score guys have to be on base. Can hit 3 HR a game and lose every game 4-3

You are kind of all over the place here D3A. The old Earl Weaver strategy of waiting for the 3 HR is the epitome of what Billy Beane has done.

I don't think Beane would turn down the job based upon the talent in the organization. I am kind of indifferent on Beane to be honest. On the one hand, his philosophy matches more closely what I would hope the Cubs would do. On the other hand, the track record of GMs moving from small to big markets is pretty damn poor.

Also don't take what I said about Abreu to mean that I love that strategy. There are some advantages to it and it does work some times. I wish the Cubs placed more emphasis on working the count and took these raw athletes and tried to make them do the things that would maximize their skills. I believe that is a lot easier said then done, but under Jim Hendry the Cubs have seemed to only acquired patient hitters inspite of themselves.

Tony Campana Minor League Statistics & History - Baseball-Reference.com

Guess you can calculate it for yourself.

Or:

Tony Campana

K-rate about what you'd expect based on minors performance, small sample size yada yada.

He right around where he at in minors. Thats not playing much in MLB. To me its hard to stay consistent when your getting 1-5 AB per week. For a team that is 20 games under .500 might as well see what he can do with alot of playing time. Im at the point where i wish Ricketts would come out and say what he thinking. Doing a full rebuild or going for it. Doing this stop gap shit is not going to do anything.

Bonifacio also draws more walks and hits for more power. Bonifacio has hit 1 homerun this season. That is 1 more homerun than Tony Campana has hit in his entire professional career.

The market for bats is so terrible. It doesn't seem like many teams are panicking though.

I think we see some good deals this weekend. We still 4 days away from deadline.

i keep hearing BOS looking for SP. im still hoping once teams figure out that Ubaldo, Shields not leaving that Z gets more attention. After Kuroda is off the table i would think Z is the next best option espicially if rumors true Cubs eat alot of contract

Yeah I am really curious to see who blinks first between Hendry and Huntington over Pena.

I've thought about asking this, but if no team bites on Zambrano in the trade market what about just waiving him? I could see NYY claiming him to prevent him to go to Boston and then the Cubs could Rios the Yankees.

I really think he isn't a 100%. I don't know for certain but I haven't seen a guy go from average to garbage at his age before without an injury causing it.

i think teams wont claim for that reason. They know Cubs would just let him go to save salary cap.

i havent been that impressed since his rookie year. Even when he came up i told my dad i dont see him sticking around long in MLB cause he just dont have that good of stuff. I honestly think i could hit him. 88-90 FB, flat slider, change up his best pitch but it floats out of the zone all the time. He walks to many guys also.

Probably not but I would have said the same thing about Rios last year. Zambrano is a lot like the Rios case with questions about his mental makeup, coming off several solid seasons, similar age, and struggling the year he was waived. I know it is a long shot, but I think it is an interesting scenario to consider.
