Boy, I hope not. Really looked tenative out there last night although I give him credit for playing it safe with the Cubs leading in the game. I felt at least one of those balls out to him was catchable. Not sure on the time frame for Fowler but Wada should be hitting the DL....Alcantara should fill one of the vacancies. He deserves another look.

Actually it's looking like Wada won't miss his next start unless they're extra cautious and take the opportunity to try Turner on Saturday. Fowler is another story though. I saw speculation that the Cubs might be reluctant to bring up Alcantara and instead might move Bryant to CF and bring up Olt for 3B. It's going to be interesting. This is where Baez' injury really hurts.

Supposedly the first curve hit for a home run off Kershaw this year.

The Giants beat it up the other night. May have not hit it out, but he was leaving it up a lot. He is still very good but he is not Kershaw right now. He is also frustrated with himself. He went ape shit in the dugout against the Giants.

I didn't see the play you are talking about but Szczur plays center like a pitbull. He plays it like he is still playing football. Balls to the wall and doesn't care about the wall. He is actually considered an above average OF.

Too bad he can't make enough contact (as of now) to supplement above-average defense

Keep this up, boys!

Starting to play really well.

Hammel gettin' it done! What a great trade and sign this turned out to be.

Greinke has a 1.79 ERA over last 9 starts and zero wins.

Just saw that the only other pitcher to ever have sub 2.00 ERA over 9 starts and not get a win was Shark, last year.

Agree. They were able to parlay Hammel and Shark, and get Hammel, Russell, McKinney, and Lester in return for about 5 million per year more because Shark wanted TOR money.

If Lester starts to pitch well like he can, this is going to be a clean sweep of players.

One more TOR pitcher and this team is going to make some noise. :smug2:

Hammel: Fastball command yielding results

How do you beat Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke on back-to-back nights? You have to pitch better than the Dodgers aces, which is what the Cubs did.

Also: Turner B.D.: 5/21/1991 IP: 298.2 Hendricks: 12/7/1989 IP: 154

So younger and has more time in than Hendricks.

I would rather wait til the dead line while giving Turner a look up til then. Wada's injury opens that door.
