#5's:

Wada{ 7 games, 3.73 ERA 31 IP
Wood: 7 games 5.59 ERA 37 IP
Haren: 5 games 6.31 ERA 25 IP
Beeler 3 games 9.81 ERA 8 IP
Richard 3 games 3.00 ERA 18 IP

To be honest they should have stuck with Richard.

They have so much youth on this team....why not try one of their kids? I mean the only starter who isn't a veteran is Hendriks. They had no problem bringing up young hitters but they seem to treat the pitchers differently. How can anyone do worse than that stellar group vying for that 5th spot....it's like the whose who of washed up has-beens. What do they got to lose?

Would be easier as he is extended out.

I believe after Haren's results that will dictate what they do.

But I still feel they jumped the gun on Haren. Richard's starting numbers were over all good. Avg 6 innings per. Was not giving up home runs. SO good. BB good. EHIP was at a 1.06. Those numbers got worse out of the pen. so that leads to believe he is better as a starter.

Wada has been injured twice this year. Stuff wise he is not dominate. He has benefited by teams not seeing him much vs dominating teams. His numbers get worse every time through the line up which points towards adjustment vs dominance.

Wada would be a good LH MR.

Nothing to worry about. This was a game that had trap written all over it. Ask SilenceS. He'll even tell you. The Cubs just had a massive emotional West Coast night game with a flight back home to play on Monday. All signs pointed to a loss here. No biggie.

You worry way too much. Not a big deal. MN now at 27. Relax. It's not time to panic.

No, it's really not. In a terrible week they lost one game in the standings that matter but 7 games ticked off the schedule. This team is going to win 90 games at a minimum and 94 wins at a maximum. Currently they are on pace to win 92. They have 32 games remaining and 16-16 gets them to 90. The Giants have 31 games to play and would have to go 22-9 to get to 91 wins. They are currently on pace to win 85 games. Which is more likely the Cubs gong .500 or better or the Giants going on a .710 clip the rest of the way? If there comes a time to panic I will be doing it right with y'all but the odds say we're not close to that.

Last night never really felt that comfortable except that four run fifth but the roster expanding really helps as some guys just look a little tired. I will say that the thing that has hurt Haren has been he's a fly ball pitcher who has pitched primarily in the hot days of summer since he's been acquired. While he's struggling recently, he's going to have better starts when he pitches in night games in September/potentially October.

For a week.

I will say I was disappointed in Castro causing all those unearned runs. :)
Nope. Not even close. You will say "Cubbies are Chicagoland's #1 team." :D
