Gotta take the bat off your shoulder, Baker.

That guy will be fine. Yankees are used to balls being in their faces.

It looked like both guys had plenty of time to get to that one, but neither wanted it. That looked to be Soriano's ball though, and I wonder if he was called off or if there was some miscommunication.

That play pretty much sums up the entire Cubs season to this point. I agree, that was Soriano's ball all the way. He shouldn't have given up on it.

I'll give Soriano the benefit of the doubt and assume he thought that it wouldn't clear the basket. But even then, wouldn't you still put yourself in a position to make the play just in case it did clear it? I mean, this wasn't Soriano's first outfielding gig at Wrigley, right? Shouldn't he know how to play that ball by now, or is this just wishful thinking on my part? Look, I understand that it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things (seeing how the game was already well out of hand by that point), but I'd still like to see our guys at least act like they're interested in being there. How much is Soriano's contract worth again? On second thought, don't answer that. I don't wanna have to think about it any more than I already do. I need a drink...

Look on the bright side though, gentlemen. We're not the Florida Marlins. Not yet, at least.

Is Wrigley that dim at night games in real life at night games or what? It seems like the outfield/bleacher sections are in almost darkness.

Well at least we kept the first two games close.

Just glad Rivera didn't get the save in the final game.

Really saw how the injuries affected this team in that last game. Two guys who wouldn't be on this club if it wasn't for the ridiculous amount of people going down gave up some of the biggest blows.

Also saw what the affect of patience is on a team. The Cubs as a whole are so content to swing at the first thing in the zone it lets a pitcher struggling with his command all day cruise through 7 innings by getting 5 pitch innings. The Yankees on the other hand sit there and wait for their pitch. They work and grind down your pitchers like the Cubs did in 08. Man I miss that offense.

Yup. Its just not the Rudy Jaramillo way. With how much better pitching is right now you have to try and work the pitcher into making a bad pitch and then take advantage. That 5 pitch inning really hurt.

I don't think you can blame Jaramillo on this one. The Cubs have had many different hitting coaches and the same hitting philosophy seems to apply to all of the big time prospects coming through the system (Patterson, Pie, Castro, Barney, Colvin, etc.) and most of the guys they trade or sign for. This is just an organization that does not value working a count and getting on base. This is an organization that values tools.

True. I mean Sam Fuld's comments definitely solidified that. Jaramillo supports the Cubs batting stigma but doesn't fit the current mold of MLB unfortunately.

Would've been nice to say we took 3 of 4 from Milwaukee and then 2 of 3 from the Yankees...instead I'm just sad again. :(

Yeah most of those good feelings from the Brewers series is gone, and will probably fade some more when we choke against the Sox. But hey now would be a good time to get that first three game winning streak.
