Um, is this not a Sox board? Who brought up a National league pitcher into this thread? I give a shit about any National league puke, especially a puke on the Cubs.

IF the cub pukes want to discuss this crap go right ahead on their own little board. That is my opinion. Go play in your own sandbox.

Chris Sale is a beast. I always thought he was injury in the making. Cant blame me. Frames like that don't last. But, Jake is on a different planet right now. He is on a Pedro Martinez type run.

What kind of "frame" did Randy Johnson have? And who the hell is "Jake"?

Why? Do you like talking to yourself?

Um Randy Johnson was 4 inches taller and 45 pounds heavier.

What does being "taller" have to do with anything? He had almost the identical frame that Sale has. As for the weight, he still was a skinny pitcher, especially early in his career like Sale is.

IF I talk to myself, at least I know it will be an intelligent conversation,

The comparison of Sale to Randy has been made. Not so much recently, but frequently early in Chris' career IIRC.

Not sure why, Randy was a much bigger man and his mechanics were totally different

Sure. Same kind of frame. Same unorthodox arm angle. Johnson had an awesome fastball. Sale has more pitches and better control. I said when he came up(Sale) that as long as he got the ball in his "slot" he'd be fine. He doesn't overthrow. He isn't jerky in his delivery. He is smooth all the way through his delivery. Everything he throws is from the same arm angle. Hitters give up on his breaking stuff thinking that it'll never curve enough to hit the strike zone. Truly an amazing pitcher who is getting better and better through time.

You really should give it a rest for awhile. You might want to talk to someone who knows something about pitching, arm angle deliveries, stride, landing spot, release points etc. The similarity of the two is incredible and just about every broadcaster and talking head in baseball sees it.

I get the tall lanky power pitcher. I just think their delivers were much different. Johnson came barreling down on you where it looked like he was about to slap you in the face. Sale is more corky. He may elongate towards the batter, but he doesn't feel as on top of them. I think he uses a lot more momentum where Johnson barreled down and flung it at batters hence his huge control issues with being younger. Also, Johnson is an exception, in my opinion, to be healthy. Don't get me wrong. Sale has far passed the injury bug I thought he would get. I get the parallels, but I believe its more body type than body movement. Also, I do believe Sale is 180 pounds soaking wet. He looks 160. Johnson had some meat on him. Just my opinion on that, but Sale has absolutely proven me wrong with the injury.

You are so weird. This is Randy Johnsons mechanics.

Sale is an inverted W. Johnson was not. Even thought both come from a side arm, Johnson did not have to use the momentum Sale has to get there. This is not knocking Sale. This is my opinion on why the comparison is strictly body type and power pitcher related.

This is Chris Sale and you can cleary see his elbow goes above his shoulder to give the inverted W which hasn't had the best track record. He has surpassed my timeline for injury, but I feel he does have a greater injury risk than normal. He is still an incredible pitcher and every year he proves me wrong. I am perfectly fine with. I love baseball. I love seeing the best.

Man, you call me weird? Talk about nitpicking! The comparables between Cy Sale and the Unit are a helluva more prevalent than their differences. Both of these guys deliveries pretty much come from a second baseman angle. No two pitchers throw exactly the same but these two guys are extraordinarily similar in both body frame and delivery point. The Unit threw harder pretty much because he could generate more torque in his pitches because he was four inches taller and had longer and stronger legs.
Sale changes speeds on virtually every pitch he throws and has more movement in his pitches and throws more strikes.
