8-0 with that same smooth delivery that handcuffs every batter that he faces. He and Q are the best two pitcher combo in the major leagues. IF Latos and company rise to the occasion, this team will be unbeatable going forward.

Fun to watch? YES.

Sale & Q dominant? YES.

Sox unbeatable?? NO!

The march to the Cy continues for Sale. Didn't get to watch the game but looking at the box score I was amazed with how many pitches he threw for strikes in this game. What I love about this guy is how quickly he works and how he doesn't nibble with batters. Its like he is saying to the batter, get ready here it comes and its gonna be a strike so you might as well swing at it.

No team is unbeatable.

The Cubs have few weaknesses right now. But they're built to win a lot of games in the regular season (100+). I don't see them winning a championship with that pitching staff, though. If they can add another elite starter, they will be the favorite.

There are too many "Ifs" with the Sox right now. They're a better defensive team than the cubs, but they still need a power bat in the outfield. Also, Rodon and Latos need to continue what they've been doing early in the season, or the Sox have no shot. I do love our infield. I also love what Eaton and Melky are doing as well.

Watch out for Baltimore, Seattle and Boston though.

Yea, I know that number 1 starters ERA in the league says the pitching cant be trusted. I mean we only have 3 guys with an ERA under 2. Shitty Cubs pitching!

The Cubs had an excellent REGULAR SEASON ERA last year as well. How did that work out for you?

I said the Cubs might win 100+ this season as well. Don't know where you got shitty rotation from. In any event, playoff baseball is a whole different season entirely. Your entire staff pitched like ass after the wild card game. So in that sense, yes, a 5+ team ERA in the playoffs is shit I guess. If you had another elite pitcher to hand the ball to in game 2 of the NLCS (Sonny Gray for instance) we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.

Yes, the 2006 Cardinals were a powerhouse of pitchers. I know the Giants of Bumgarner and who? were another power house. Its whoever gets hot in the playoffs. the Braves had the best rotation for 10 years and won one worlds series. Don't get weird. Oh and Sonny Gray would be a great pick up with his over 4 ERA and peripherals. Yet again, I am not saying the Cubs won't go after someone but it has to make sense, but this rotation can win just like anyone else. Its who gets hot.

Bottomline: regular season ERA means squat in October. Jake is the only pitcher you can trust to miss bats on that rotation. Lester is declining and signing 37 year old Lackey as your 3rd starter is a joke. You got swept by the Mets in the NLCS, and I see no reason why it won't happen again this season.

LOL good solid rebuttal. Itz happenz lastz yearz, so 's itz gonnaz happenz thiz year.

I would say the Cubs should go get Clayton Kershaw, but he is just a regular season warrior.

Whatever floats your boat, skippy. I guess you're not a true Cubbies fan unless you buy into the hype machine every year. You'd think Cubs fans would have learned to be more analytical about the game by now.

Nice of Silence to loan his account to Dews for a while.

Gotta give us fans the chance of Jake v Chris

For real. Will petition for both Ventura and Madden to be fired if this doesn't happen, because this is their only responsibility as managers: entertain us.

That game would take, what, 90 minutes?

What a game last night. I was able to watch the last couple of innings. Chris is just so darn good. Need Jake to go lights out today in keeping the AS game matchup alive.

Sorry, but when someones rebuttal is it happened last year so it will happen this year. Tends to make me think they are not very knowledgeable.

Yeah. I saw the replay of the Gattis home-run off of him. My coaching buddy's son was drafted by the Braves at the same time Gattis was. His son was a catcher also and actually did better in A ball than Gattis did. I am amazed how big Gattis has gotten since then!

Oh, but bringing up regular season team ERA from last year is? Cubs fans aren't known to be particularly knowledgeable about the game, and you prove that everytime you post your nonsense.

I posted this year. Would you like me to post Matt Harvey struggles so far?

Post the Cubs' 2015 postseason ERA.

Would you like me to post Kershaws? Or how about John Lackey's that they added this year? You still are standing on no leg except it happened in a 4 game series, so that means it will happen every time. Extremely analytical. Shows your understanding of the game well.

Nah, just attacking your irrational belief in the pitching staff. Cubs fans seem to think a low ERA during the regular season equates to a championship caliber rotation and bullpen. I don't trust Lester and Lackey against the top teams in the league in a playoff setting--they're very hittable. AND just because your team ERA might be lower than say, the Mets, doesn't mean your rotation is better than theirs.

Anyway, if you're depending on Lester and Lackey to win you a WS, you're in for a rude awakening. If that $118MM RF of yours could hit like $118MM RF, you might of had a chance.
