All I know is that I'm dancing a happy dance that ST games have started so we can stop talking about on paper and actually talk about on the field. Puts us that much closer to the real thing.

Most wins is not best team, especially in the NL with 6 teams being historically bad teams

Winning games doesn't matter? I had no idea. Someone get Rob Manfred on the phone!

Didn't say that, but run with it all you want.

Next might be a trolling brett post from PR. What joy!

I'll have to, since you are apparently incapable or unwilling of engaging in an actual discussion in this thread.

Next might be a trolling brett post from PR. What joy!

You accusing other people of trolling you in the Cubs forum. That's rich. Here's your first post in this thread:

*glug, glug*

Oh, you're as pure as the driven snow, you are.

C'mon Brett. What kind of a boneheaded statement is that? All teams can do is win the games on their schedule....you win the most, you are the best. Kinda why they have things in the standings like the W-L column. The competence of your opponent is irrelevant. The only place I see that differing is the playoffs where the best team doesn't always win...the hottest team does sometimes in a shorter time frame. But 162 games is a tell tale.

So you are saying having 6 teams that are pushovers doesn't help teams vs the AL where there is talks of only Oakland being that pushover team?

Come on now.

I think there is a difference in calling someone a Kool Aid Drinker - Glug Glug and a troll especially in context. Sorry that you don't see that.

And has been pointed out to you already in this thread, based upon the preponderance of positive predictions for the Cubs, it isn't Kool-aid. It's water. Your "glug, glug" comment is silly and trollish, rawhide05.

Whose Kool-Aid am I drinking? ZiPS? Steamer? Fangraphs? All neutral when it comes to every team. My God man, make sense.

To say someone is drinking the kool aid literally means that they're not being objective.

"Drinking the Kool-Aid" is a figure of speech commonly used in North America that refers to a person or group holding an unquestioned belief, argument, or philosophy without critical examination.

If that were the case, why has every win projection total favored the Cubs? And Jonah Keri called them the best team in baseball and Buster Olney predicted them to win the WS. Are all these people who are not Cub fans/associated with the team also drinking the kool aid?

If calling the Cubs the best team in baseball was some sort of horribly homeristic opinion, I assume then it won't be hard for you or anyone else find writers/information who say other teams/organizations are better.

Hey guys, I heard PECOTA was totally jealous of ZiPS because it's smitten with the Cubs. Apparently last Friday the Cubs were out drinking, and ZiPS just showed up out of nowhere, and was just hanging all over the Cubs. You know, just being really obvious about the whole thing and making everyone else kind of uncomfortable. Somebody at the bar sent PECTOA pics of the whole thing, and now PECOTA is really pissed that ZiPS is moving in on their man. So I talked to Steamer, who was there the whole time like "I'm staying out of this whole thing," and Steamer was like "Now PECOTA is trying to win Cubs back by being really nice to them."

It's irrelevant...it means nothing. Here's an example that I'm sure you can relate to....why do your White Sox get their ass handed to them every year by Minnesota no matter how bad or good the Twins are?

With the long season in baseball one thing you have to remember is that the difference between a 90 win playoff team and a 70 win also ran is about 3.5 wins a month. That's really how close the bad teams are to the good ones and in the first few months that difference can be even smaller as the bad teams usually (but not always) sell of parts and get worse late. Bad teams sweep good ones in a odd series here or there all the time. It's not like there are teams lying down out there.

I have no issue saying the Cubs will win the most games, wint he NL, win the WS. Saying it is undisputed is that part that is in question.

But you agree with me you'd rather have 6 lame ducks than 1 yes?

In the abstract, yes. I think it's more complicated than that in an actual season. Do I think NL win total could be a few games higher than AL win totals with that being a factor? probably, but I wouldn't put a number on it. I believe strongly that the top of the NL is better than the top of the AL and even if the bottom was better it may not make a huge difference. On the other hand, as you point out, the bottom of the AL is much better. Too many factors to account for to make a blanket statement IMHO. I get your basic premise though and it's not wrong on its face.

Irrelevant? That's pure comedic gold.

The same goes for most of your posts and the White Sox organization....but you don't hear me bitching about it.

Amazing how an arguement like this can happen before the first pitch is thrown.
