I have no issue saying the Cubs will win the most games, wint he NL, win the WS. Saying it is undisputed is that part that is in question.
It was not mentioned that it's undisputed that the Cubs will win the WS, it was said that it was undisputed that the Cubs have the best roster in baseball and to be quite honest, they do. Maybe you can find teams with say a better top 3 of the rotation or a better 3-4-5 hitters or a better backend of the bullpen but in the aggregate, you simply do not see a team that has as many quality depth players as the Cubs do this year.
There were 38 hitters last year who were 4+ WAR players, the Cubs have four players projected to do that (Russell, Bryant, Rizzo, Heyward) and then another (Schwarber) who might get there if he gets the PA.
There were 19 pitchers last year who were 4+ WAR players and the Cubs project to have two of them (Lester, Arrieta).
When you think of elite teams, they're usually as good as their bad players. The worst hitter in the Cubs regular lineup is either Miguel Montero, Jorge Soler, or Addison Russell. Their worst starting pitcher is either Kyle Hendricks or Jason Hammel. Besides the elite players they have at numerous positions, they also don't have glaring holes at the other spots. Javier Baez probably starts on 25 other teams in baseball but he can't start here.
The Cubs currently project to have 15 players (10 H and 5 P) with a WAR of at least 2. So while they have elite top end talent that will compare/be slightly less than other teams top end, their 10th best player will be a solid regular player.
The beauty of this team/roster is that it's not all on the shoulders of one or two guys; if Rizzo struggles then the Cubs have more than enough offense around him to score runs.
