Supposedly Jags fans say he called plays in 23 and 24 and they regressed. That’s why they don’t like him what a joke. If he was an excellent play caller he would be taking an OC job. I see nothing wrong with this hire.
Way I see it is he must have been pretty good at everything else for Doug Pederson to trust him to call plays.

i don’t think they regressed. I just think Lawrence is simply not a good QB and he’s another Jordan Love type of player that has a big contract and doesn’t make the players around him better

Most fans are idiots. I’d not worry about what they say. It’s a pass game coordinator position anyway. It’s like a glorified intern for the OC. Thomas Brown didn’t even talk to Caleb at all in this role… shows what kind of direct impact these guys have.

If we learned one thing about last year is that pass game coordinator has very little, if any impact on an offense. Thomas Brown was the pass game coordinator for more than half the season last year and hardly had any interaction whatsoever with the quarterback until he was promoted to OC.
As somebody already mentioned, Johnson is probably just bringing in a guy who can help him design plays, which is apparently what he did with Philly.

Eh I'm fine with it. It's not like JAX's offense was a dumpster fire with him as OC -- was #10 in 2022 and #13 in 2023 before they were derailed with injuries this year and were left with nobody at the skill positions besides BTJ after Lawrence, Engram, and Kirk went down. Even then, they still ended with a better passing attack than we had.
