11 is a big high. I think he will be good for 9 assists a game though - especially if we can bring in Bosh or Amare.

Congrats! Rose!!!

This almost ensures that he will be a ROY.

He has 3 of these already and probably 1 more will seal the deal.

I think the deal is already sealed. It'd be really surprising if anyone else won ROY IMO.

Yay..Go Derrick..at this point, i dont see how he doesnt win ROY..and i love the way his stats are strikingly similar to Paul, Wade and B.Roy. All 3 of those guys had big increases in statistcal production in the sophomore seasons. CP3 was kinda injured but blew up in his 1st full season after that. Hopefully, history repeats itself

CP3: 16.1/7.8/5
Wade: 16.8/4.7/4
B-Roy: 16.8/4/4.5
Rose: 16.6/6/4

didnt think this deserved its own thread so i'll just post it here

Chris Bosh on Rose

"He's very mature for his age and he shows a lot of composure. He surprised me this summer (with his athleticism), he is very fast and very under control. That's the thing about it, you can be fast but if you can't stop, it's different. He can stop on a dime. He's a very good player. He uses both hands well, he passes well and once he improves his shooting, he is going to be a nightmare."

Rose on CP3's comments about him

It means a lot because Chris, it's crazy because I think that he is the best pg in the league and for him to say that it makes me feel good to tell you the truth. I look up to him on the court and off the court because he's just a great role model to follow and I'm going to continue to do that."

I'm guessing Derrick isn't too satisfied. After all, he did have at least one turnover during the month.

I was going to ay that's not a fair comparison because Rose played more minutes, but I looked it up, it was 36.8 for Rose, 36 for CP3, 34.9 for Wade, and I think 35 for Roy.

While Rose's stats would be slightly higher due to his minutes, the gap would be really small with only a 2 minute difference max. Hopefully he makes the same kind of improvements as those guys.

In some ways, you'd expect him to have the largest potential improvement given that he has both the least experience and the worst jumper going into the league of that group, so he has the easiest learning curve to get better and has the most time left on his curve.

Guys who averaged 16/6 as rookies

Pretty good list, only Francis and Stoudemire ended up not being great players, and even Francis was pretty darn good before he lost his athleticism.

I think Vinny got it right when he said Rose had won the ROY way back in january or February.

I think Rose won ROY in November.

It was funny when VDN made that quote because he had just come off two months of pretty bad play. His March has been much better though, had he continued on his trend of Jan/Feb then I think someone may have passed him even with the hype machine working in his favor.

However, his March resurgence has been enough to lock him in. Being the only rookie in a playoff race will be the tie breaker for anyone who feels the race is close as well. Especially since only he and Mayo are the primary players on their team.

While I think Gordon has blown away Rose this year in terms of value to the team that opinion doesn't mesh with the national media, so Rose will be credited as the Bulls best player when it comes to the voting.

I think Rose wins the award by a landslide capturing probably 80%+ of the first place votes.

I agree that Gordon has been the better player, but disagree with the notion that Gordon is more valuable than Rose

For just this season I think Gordon definitely has been more valuable. I don't think he has more value going forward, but I think Rose's value is really overstated for this season.

He was lights out in November, but he was pretty poor from Dec-Feb, and has played quite well in March.

Team's gameplan a ton around Gordon. They game plan around both Rose and Gordon. The general strategy seems to be don't give Rose the guy, and no one ever leaves off Ben Gordon to help on defense.

I think this is one of the reasons why John Salmons is doing so well. He isn't the one being gameplanned for, Rose and Gordon are, which lets him fly under the radar...and then all of a sudden he has 25 points.

If Rose gets to the point where he's so good, that team's solely gameplan around Rose, and do the "We're not going to let Rose beat us, we'll make their other players beat us" I think we will see Gordon's scoring go up some more, and his efficiency as well, as a result of a lot less pressure and more open shots.

Ya, but the teams gameplan for Rose not Gordon

Not true. They plan for both. Several coaches have talked about their plans to stop 'the back-court' during post game interviews.
