And he will probably get some boos whenever this takes place. Hate that their doing this; why can't they wait a few years until he is potentially not working for the wangs. He just retired a month ago.[/quote]

I was NOT one of the ones booing though. I could care less one way or the other. All I really give a shit about it the 3, 20 minute periods and any time the game goes over that. What ever they do before the game, between periods and or after I don't give a shit.

It's all about the hockey on the ice. Now if they were to retire #7 and put Chelios on it, then I'd boo and be pissed. Because he no longer owns the #7 in Chicago. A guy who has bled and sweat his entire career in Chicago so far has. One that has one Stanley Cup and a Hawk as who knows how many more in the future.

I agree I just feel like the more they do this the more it loses its "meaning" or whatever. Everyone has deserved it though so far, expect Olczyk.

Hope they don't do something stupid, like try retire Chelios and Seabs numbers on the same night, somewhere down the road, like the Habs did recently.

#12 Dickie Moore retired November 12, 2005

#12 Yvan Cournoyer retired November 12, 2005

I knew it was coming, but didn't expect it so soon. As Ron said, I care more about the product on the ice then the show before the game.

While I shuddered the moment I heard that Cheli was getting a heritage night, I wont be booing him that night. I wont be clapping either, but im not booing someone who put in some great years for the hawks. Come to think of it, I think it would be even better if absolutely no one clapped or booed when he was introduced, just the eerie silence that once filled the UC just a few years back when the attendance was 6k strong.

True. That game will fetch a pretty penny for my playoff ticket fund.

Anyone who is genuinely shocked about the announcement can remove their heads from their asses.

I'm surprised it's this season. I figure they'd have waited a few years.

Actually I'm surprised. Why, because he still WORKS for the Wang organization. I don't see Wilson getting his, do you?

I won't boo nor will I clap. IMO he and his four Stanley Cups were won with OTHER teams.

Chelios is not universally loved like JR.

Glad the game is not 'till December. Plenty of time for him to get hit by a bus.

Bullshit. He's almost exactly like JR. In fact JR has stuck is foot in his mouth much more than Cheli ever did. In fact he pretty much told Hawk fans to **** off TWICE in this past years playoffs. Once while we were playing the Sharks and another why Phili.

Maybe you missed them both. Or maybe you've missed the numerous times JR has pretty much slapped Hawks fans in the face over the years, with his idiotic, ill thought comments?

Is Wilson a 1st ballot Hall Of Famer? Well, obviously not, so maybe that's the reasoning. OR they just wanted to get it out of the was as soon as possible? After the offer sheet methinks Wilson will be waiting a long time.

And Jim, JR is not universally loved.
