Hell, I went to a Hawks game in 2001. Where's MY Heritage Night?
Unfortunately, they don't recognize the fans or IHN for that matter, so oh well, so much for that... But God, do I wish we could be.... :)

Seriously, though, if there's a Chelios night, there's bound to be a Belfour one coming, too... maybe even a Probert Memorial Night yet again, but we'll see. I won't be surprised one bit and that's a topic for another day. Either way, if its new and exciting, I would expect the brass to get on it in full force.

But this early? I'm still a bit shocked when the guy still works for the Wangs. Its only fitting and ironic, though, to see his night against the Wangs.

He'll have to wear the Indianhead jersey in front of the Wangs and in front of us. How weird and puketacular is that going to be?
The old timers remember how good Cheli was and have every right to boo.

I myself will be rocking the Cheli jersey one more time that night.

Let me remind all the young pups who only saw him play as a Wing, he won 2 Noris with the Hawks.
As weird as this sounds, even I remember him as a Hawk. Then again, I've followed hockey since 1990, when I was 9. Its still a creepy thought to see him retire almost 20 years later.

He was a great player. That said, he left. By choice.

Re: Cheli gets a heritage night?!??!?!?!?!
I didn't watch hockey back when Roenick, played for the Hawks, but I think he is a tool from what I have seen. I would read how much some fans liked and admired him which really confused me, because when ever I have seem him he behaves like a total jackass. Always seems to say or imply something unflattering about the Blackhawks. There were a couple times during the playoffs last year when I wanted to pinch his head off. I couldn't figure out if he was crying cause the Flyers lost or because he was feeling sorry for himself.
The reason you think he is a tool is because all of the crap that is televised and on youtube of his past is all of the bad stuff where he is acting somewhat like an ass. If you actually watched him play and how much he loved being a hawk as a youngster, you would have some admiration for him. I loved JR while I was growing up, he was my favorite and always a class act to the fans and the kids. So maybe its nostalgia for my childhood, but either way, ive always loved JR.

co-sign.

Say what you want about JR's mouth, but you can't say that he ever gave less than 100% everytime he stepped on the ice. He didn't know how to take a night off. Even if it was an allstar game he'd be out there throwing hits.

I also appreciate the way he played for team USA during an era when he was often the only player on the entire team to show up.

Rob Brown, Patrick Poulan, Tony Hrkac, and Dan Vincellete all the way!
I'd be cool with a Tony "Circus" Hrkac night, but up here at school and not at the UC.

But seriously, where's the Eric Daze Heritage Night or Jocelyn Thibault Heritage Night?

I'll be booing his ass loudly that night - I'm more vocal when it's comes to that and have never been afraid of booing anyone. Let's let him have it that night.

I have. At many games. Maybe you sold them too.
Yep. I cannot believe you didn't hear the boos for them?

JR and Cheli were great for the Hawks when they were hear. Both left under bad circumstances.

JR and his mouth. Cheli just wanting to get away from the sinking boat.

Off the ice, both of these guys are great. Friendly to fans and take the time to pose for pics and sign autographs.

What happened between them two and the Organ"I"zation is in the past.

I will not boo.

And that's why he played up that bullshit ankle injury at the end of his tenure???? I lost all respect for him when he pulled that shit. JR may have started off as a good guy, but he ended up his time in Chicago by being a self serving asshole.

He was among my favorite players as a kid, and ended up being a self serving asshole.

Re: Cheli gets a heritage night?!??!?!?!?!

guess i'm kinda indifferent on the night.

but i'll tell ya someone who isn't, haha. after the second period i ended up walking right next to McScrooge about halfway around the 300 concourse. some old guy by 303 stopped McDick dead in his tracks and told him he was a fuckin idiot for having Cheli heritage night. McDeath was all like "i'm sorry you feel that way, let us know through our feedback reps". Even better, that table where they stand was right behind the two of them so the guy hollered at one of the guys back there "hey, Cheli heritage night is a real great idea, who's the idiot that thought that up". early entrant for highlight of my hawks season 2010-2011.

I'm of the opinion that it's better to talk to someone respectively if you disagree with a decision. The quickest turnoff is when someone insults you first and then tells you they don't like your idea - I would just chalk that up to some crazy drunk idiot and pay it no bother if I was McD. Although I dont' agree with a lot of the McD decisions he is very cordial to the fans from what I've witnessed and he is approachable. I would just tell him nicely why I think it's a bad idea and I think that would carry a lot more weight than telling him he's a f-ing idiot. Just my 2 cents.

I can only judge him based on what I've seen and how he's treated me when I've spoken to him. I've talked to him twice and he's been very nice both times. I saw a few other fans talking to him and he was very pleasant with them as well. Sounds like others had some not-so-nice moments with him but if the conversation began with 'hey you're a f-ing idiot' can you really blame the guy for being terse or short? I know I would end the conversation right there if someone spoke to me like that.

He and I do not talk. If I want something done, I go over his head.

Just like Tallon I don't kiss anyone's ass. Fortunately I do not work for the organization so he can not Fire me for not kissing his ass.
