I hear this echoed over & over & over again on here, & I just keep asking myself, why? Why does nearly every Bulls fan think this? 3 games away from the Finals last year. We held the Heat to 90ppg. The margin between us & the Heat is not Grand Canyon-sized, it's pot-hole sized. Rami made this thread last week:
http://www.chicitysports.com/forum/chicago-bulls-forum/18697-31-3-a.html

31-3 when Bogans scored more than 6pts. That's it. Not scoring a mere 6pts from the 2-guard position was a factor in 17 of our 20 losses. Does that scream to anyone that this team needs to be blown up for a chance to convince Howard to stay here? Or does it seem more like this team needs a few tweaks to get us to the promised land?

Boozer is slimmer & healthier (with a new Black Ice look) & has impressed everyone in camp with his energy & play. Rose has been working all summer on his game, which includes post-moves now. Asik & Noah are fully healthy, & we've added a hungry vet with a championship pedigree who will surely give us more than 6pts at the 2-guard position. Listen to the coach, listen to the MVP. We have the tools to win it all, and in this mad-rush shortened season, we stand a very good chance of coming out on top.

I agree. Even though we lost the series 4-1, we easily could have won 3 of those games we lost.

Hypothetically, if we had Rip in the series, I think we would have won at least 3 games against the Heat because we really got no production out of our 2 guards and I assume Rip could have given us about 16 a night.

but I still don't think we have to beat them. Battier was a nice addition for that team. Obviously LeBron, Wade and Bosh are great players. They have good shooters in James Jones and Mike Miller [when he's healthy]. Chalmers and Battier are also very capable of hitting open shots. And you can't forget about Haslem. The dude is a solid defender and rebounder when healthy, which he wasn't against us.

I think the series could be closer with rip, I just still think we need more offensive fire power

healthiest top 10 team will win the championship....it's pretty much true every year.

( I don't have stats on that -- just seems that way all the time. )

I agree 100%..........this makes me wish more that PaxGar would begin negotiations with Chinese officials to release there prisoner JR Smith to the Bulls custody......then well have all the offensive fire power we need ... JR Smith would give DWade a hell of a battle.

That's not always necessarily true. However, in this shortened season, the teams with great chemistry & great depth are at a distinct advantage over everyone else. It's safe to say we are #1 in both those categories with 11 of now 13, with Rip, players in camp returning from last year. Mike Miller just had hernia surgery & won't be back for atleast a month. Curry is over 330lbs & can't even make it through a single practice, and Battier must quickly acclimate himself to his new team on the fly with virtually no training camp. The conditions are right for us to surprise everyone & bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy back to the UC.

Firm believer in that too. I don't care how young a team is..it really is all about how healthy the team is come playoffs. That selected team will claim the next championship. Hope it's us! :D

Guess I'll just have to give him a chance. I just hope he's not the trash he was the last couple of years. Atleast its not the $60 million we signed Wallace for.

Only two years are guaranteed. I like the signing, I think that Rip is a very good scorer off the ball and the defense definitely has to account for him. And even though he's had some poor years in the last few, I think that playing next to such a great point guard will rejuvenate him. The one issue is that he's not quite a secondary ball handler, but I can get over that.

If you watched him the last few years all he did was ball hog and jack up bad shots. I don't think I recall ever seeing him pass once.

Maybe being in a new situation will change since he really doesn't have to compete with 10 other guards like he did on the SG overloaded Pistons.

Well that's still a key issue, but at least having a guy who can kill you if you leave him unguarded will help a lot. He's not exactly the key to a title or anything, but marginal upgrades could put you over the top at this point

Well at this point don't you need a guy who does nothing much on offense except score? Unless Rip is coming off the bench, I see no need for him to create for others, we have a certain MVP who can do that in the starting rotation

Why do you insist on trolling us with J. R. Smith in damn near every thread?

no headband rule.......

In an interview years back, Rip said he wears the headband to give his mask some style..
As far as the Bulls "no headband" rule, I found a loop hole that will allow Rip to still wear it.
He can tell management that he needs the headband for extra support on his mask....in Rips case, his lawyer can plea to the court that the headband is a health related need and not a necessity..

Welcome Richard Hamilton.

I'm going to put my forgiveness cap on, and not think about how he dealt with past situations differently than I.

Lets go :bulls:

Well I'm sure he was very frusturated and unhappy in his situation in Detroit the last few seasons, especially last season.

He has a fresh start, and being in a winning situation will keep him motivated and on the right track again...

I can't wait to see how he fits in here.

Its time for the masked mans rebirth.
