Then what is?

It isn't Derrick Rose's fault. There are plenty of star players who would love to play with him.

It isn't Thib's fault.

It certainly isn't the fan-base. Or the city.

Let's see. High tax rate, cold weather, high crime rate, several well known athletes have been robbed at gunpoint, those could be a few reasons

No superstar is going to not come to the Bulls because of high taxes. The main reason is the FO's failure to make the successful pitch to them.

Not necessarily. Given the choice between Chicago and some other city with no income tax (Miami perhaps?) they might opt to go for the other city. Definitely possible.

That remains to be seen...where do you get that from? So Dwight Howard, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade etc. would love to play with Rose...but Reinsdorf impeded and the chances of that happening disappeared? I don't know about that.

Carmelo Anthony said that there were two teams that he would accept the Denver Nuggets to trade him to: New York or Chicago.

And there will be other young stars who the Bulls can sign. Paul George and Evan Turner might just develop into such after the Bulls sign one of them in a couple of years. Either of them could become a great (younger) 2nd best player to Rose.

My guess is that Rose doesn't want another superstar on his team because he wants to be the undisputed best player on his team and prefers the Bulls go down the draft pick route to build a championship team.

I'd take Paul George on this team in a heartbeat. I think he'll end up being much better than Deng when it's all said and done. Jury's still out of Turner, but he's definitely got game.

I don't think that was the case. Carmelo seemed stuck on New York...but just in case what you say is true. How is Reinsdorf to blame? The Nuggets wanted Noah, Paxson wasn't giving him up. I remember arguing with people on this forum (wasn't you one of them?) that you definitely trade Noah for Melo. How is that somehow about Reinsdorf?

Carmelo did say he would have re-up'd with Chicago (towards the claim that no stars want to play for the Bulls).

And it's about the FO in general for how this team continually strikes out in free agency. Not Rose's unwillingness to recruit. The FO deserves the blame for not pulling in a legitimate superstar to go along with Rose. Just like Miami's FO got the credit for pulling in the big three in 2010.

We can ***** and moan all day about the Bulls not gutting the entire core of their team for the very flawed (and expensive) Carmelo Anthony. But there was no clear move the Bulls could have made via trade that would've definitely not hurt them.

Miami cleared cap space...the same damn thing Chicago did. The difference was Wade was in Miami and not Chicago...want to blame the FO for that?

Now Melo is very flawed and expensive? LOL...like I said back then, he is the most complete offensive player at his position scoring wise since Bird. AND he is a superstar. I remember FirstTimer and myself going against a bunch of Noah lovers because we said we would trade Noah for Melo. I said I would trade Noah AND Deng for Melo.

But noooooooooooo...trading those two would decimate the team. Right? Its hypocritical to call out the Bulls for not acquiring Melo via trade when you were against the presented trade scenarios. You were also in that "Melo is a team cancer" bullshit talk group wasn't you? Just sayin'

If Carmelo wants a ring, then he should take his talents to Chicago. Playing in New York will not get him a championship. Don't know why the hell he went there in the first place.

Probably because it's his hometown...

...and the taxes, crime rate & weather are huge factors to a star athlete. If you're a team filler type player, of course you don't pass on an opportunity to come to Chicago, but when you're a Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Amare, etc player and getting offers from all over like LA, Miami & Dallas, you're going to go with them over Chicago.

Okay?

Still doesn't have a ring...

He doesn't care about winning a ring. Some of these superstars couldn't care less about winning championships and I think Carmelo is one of them. He's making the big bucks while getting to play back home.

You are wrong.

I said the FO deserves more blame/accountability for not acquiring talent at golden opportunities than Derrick Rose does.

And I never blamed the Bulls for not pulling the trigger on a Melo trade and still do not.

It would have killed 2 seasons to trade Deng and Noah for Anthony. I was a fan of trading JUST Deng. The Bulls did the right thing at the time by holding out strong and hoping Denver would accept only Deng and Gibson for Anthony. Hindsight is 20:20.

I never said Carmelo was a cancer but I did say that he was no LeBron or Wade.

The Bulls struck out on free agents in their prime since Jordan retired. Rose is not to blame for that. The FO was dealt a shitty hand in a lot of ways but they are the ones who deserve accountability.

Born in Brooklyn, lived there until 8, moved to B'more and lived there thru HS, then went back to New York to play at Syracuse.
