It would have killed 2 seasons to trade Deng and Noah for Anthony.
Why? How? We've been over this before. That wasn't an all or nothing move and then the Bulls had to quit making moves. On top of all that the Bulls still would have been very competitive and the Melo additions was a 5-10 year move..not a 1-2 year one. So looking at the extreme short term of 1-2 years misses the entire point of the exercise.

Hindsight is 20:20.
For you. Our "sight at the time" was 20:20. Which we tried to explain to you countless times.

The Bulls are going to need another game changing talent along side Rose to realistically win a Championship. As much as I didn't want to admit this, it's true. Rose can't be the only option in this offense. As unpopular as it is, and as admirable as Rose's "I don't really recruit" thing is, he is going to have to recruit that talent, be it Love, Harden or someone else. For whatever reason, 'Dorf, Wade's shit talking, EmJeff shitting on they "unfair" way he was treated in Chicago, players don't come here. Rose and the Bulls are going to have to actively entice talent to get talent. That's just how it is.

The blame doesn't go to 1 man.
It goes to a three headed monster named JerryPaxGar.

On the topic of Derrick Rose doing recruiting-

Why should Rose be expected to do recruiting when it is not his job. We all know Derrick wants 2 things:

1) for this to be his team.

2) to win a championship.

If his heart isn't in it then he should recruit. Even if the player is LeBron James.

Someday, Rose will recruit a great free agent and it will have THAT much more pull/sway to bring that player to Chicago than if Rose was notorious for calling up every player (Danny Granger level and better) and begging them to join the Bulls.

And its a lot easier for a guy like Wade to recruit with a supporting cast of...Wade and Haslem.

I'd have to agree to some degree that big players not wanting to come here is management's fault, but it certainly doesn't help things if players know that Rose isn't necessarily looking to actively pursue playing with them. Let's face it though, Rose isn't winning jack by himself. Not with teams like LA, OKC, and Miami that all have multiple stars. It's seemed like the only top tier guys that Rose has a relationship with are Westbrook and Love. If Rose doesn't even make an attempt to recruit Love (discarding Westbrook since he's not going anywhere), then there's a problem. You can give Miami management all the props in the world for signing the big 3, but there's still the underlying sentiment that they had all expressed a desire to try to play with each other in the first place. Unless our FO pulls of a move similar to what LA has done (and who has any confidence in that), we're pretty much stuck with Rose trying to recruit players.

:dunno:

Rose recruited Kirk, because he trusts Kirk. If we want Rose to recruit someone, it has to be someone that he trusts. I think Evans is the only player in the NBA that Rose has a close relationship with that I would consider an upgrade for this team. Now, other players? I don't know, the reports aren't there but he might have other close connections too.

Rose trusts Kirk eh...bet people still won't let him off the hook for not being a 40% 3pt shooter all the time
