he's young. plus a good coach can get him to stop taking ridiculous passes. Plus inspite of anything other than potential, i'd take wall over a lot of pg's in the nba not named rose, cp3, williams.

Rondo is by far the best passer in the game. He's taken over that mantle from Nash. But all the kid can do is pass & rebound. He has no offense to speak of & is a pitiful FT shooter. He does not possess the game changing ability that D-Will, CP3, & D-Rose do. Those three can take over any game that they want to whenever they want to. And all 3 of them are by far the best player on their teams. It's not so clear cut for Rondo.

rose is a pg in the wade/lebron sense of the word.

Also you have to realize that we dont want rose to pass the ball. we were ever so critical of rose being too passive/willing to defer. we wanted rose to finnish more and shoot more. As a result, we have the finer qualities of bron in a pg body.

it's really not faire to compare rose and paul. I still think paul is the finest pass first pg in the nba. rose has to be the best scoring pg in the nba.

Disagree.

Rose is a true PG, who happens to be a greater perimeter scorer than 99% of the rest of the NBA. He also makes the plays that needs to be made for any given situation: pass or shoot.

Wade and LeBron are simply ball dominant wing players. They are both capable to playing at the head of the key like a PG in the half-court but niether are particular great at that. It usually results in a drive and kick-out or a mid-range jumpshot.

Is it possible that Rose is the better player of the group but the better point guard is Paul?

you know at times i think noah has better court vision than rose. i don't think rose will ever develop that kind of vision that nash, paul has, but i'm more than okay with rose taking 20 shots per game.

No I would disagree with that assertion because both guys are basically pure PGs.

I do believe that Rose's body and athleticism gives him the most upside over Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Because if Rose ever develops his defensive skills and passing ability to the point of those 2 guys... Rose will be the #1 PG.

But, as for right now, I do not believe that to be the case.

Yeah that's basically what I just implied in my previous post to houf.

But all 3 of those guys are pure point guards. I actually think Rose isnt as good as either one of those guys at playing off the ball yet, despite his size and athletic advantage. He doesn't have the 3 point shot of either one of them, or the defense, or the passing.

Despite that, Rose does have pretty good court vision. He averages 8+ assists per-game and has a better-than 2:1 ast:tov ratio.

i dont think rose has the point guard vision to be a pure point. part of that is a lot of my opinion of rose's vision if predicated upon VDN's turrible offense. he's played decently this year to generate wide open dunks for guys as well as the standard rose drive and kick.

Well, he is a pure PG. He certainly doesn't move well enough or shoot well enough without the ball to play the SG position at a championship level. So unless you are wanting to bring Rose off the bench to play him in needed spot as a combo-guard (in a AI/Marbury type of role), I don't think you have any other choice other than to him play at the 1/head of the key. And hope that he refines his passing skills and offensive awareness.

For everyone who is arguing that CP is a better PG than Rose. So you would straight up trade Rose for Paul then? Because I can't for the life of me even contemplate making that trade.

I wouldn't trade Rose for Paul simply because I think that Rose is going to be better.

Rose has more upside because of his body and athleticism. But Paul and Williams are more skilled than Rose is right now. Rose just needs to keep getting better.

I disagree on CP being better. I think DW is the best point in the league. CP is good, great player but I think Rose has surpassed him this year.

I think you can make a solid case for any of those 3 PGs being the best. I still say Deron and Paul are better than Rose because they have a consistent/proven three point shot, and are better defensively.

Rose is by far the best finisher around the basket but Deron and Chris are way up there too. And Rose is nowhere near the passer that either one of them are.

I do think Rose will surpass them someday though.

I agree with iVenom and Bigp50 it isn't really about scoring even through Derrick Rose is a consistent scorer even clutches, it is told that he could really change the game in a heartbeat just by creating great plays because his role is not of scoring wise, and I say if he wanted too he could score about 82 points on his own in a game. He is capable for that but in NBA is not about that by the way highest point by Rose was 39 on his rookie year I think that is hell of amazing for a point guard, and that was in the playoff with the Celtics! He is amazing where amazing happen he is just getting better very scary, look at his assist per game this year by year, and what is all about is what i like to see is that he promotes the players on his team with good deeds to do better and focus into the game as he creates also plays. I think this is awesome from pick and rolls to a lot more just his teammates has to pick up the pace to better Noah is already there they play like brothers that is Rose and Noah. Even through they all play great like they love playing together like best friends you can tell when they all chip in that is what I like to see in the Bulls roster that's how Jordan had it! :)
