If you wanted Ben Johnson as HC then shut the **** up. Elections have consequences. This is Ben Johnson's pick. You want blame someone then blame him.

Warren should have fired Poles last year and now we have a 15-36 GM trying to get above .500 next season to save his job . It will be 4 drafts for Poles with no pass rushers selected at premium spots.

And yesterday we took another non-premium position in an early draft slot. Brock Bowers was a much better prospect than anyone in this years class and even he didn't go until #13.

Yes Loveland helps the coach and scheme, but he is a complete low ceiling player with below average athleticism score for a top 10 pick. How many targets is he really going to get with Moore and Odunze out there, two other guys we paid alot to acquire?
Brock Bowers went 13 because five QBs went top 10. Not the same draft. Jesus does that matter?!

You’re suggesting Loveland must be “three picks better”?

No, but the Lions did it in 2 years, this will be Poles 4th year. If you aren't at least two games above .500 this year (10 wins minimum), he should be shown the door.
I’m confused by this. The Lions were well below .500 in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and in 2016 and 2017 and 2022 they were 9-8 before then making the playoffs in 2023 and 2024. How’s that a 2 year rebuild? They’d have really good picks for a lot of years.

We are talking about both franchises current regimes.
Poles Vs Holmes.
The rest is irrelevant.

So claypool was flus fault? When is gm accountable? Year 5 rebuild? Too soon maybe year 7?
The GM is in charge of what you pay. Spending a second round pick on him is on Poles. And as far as managing the checkbook, Poles has done a great job. His cap management is commendable. He got a great return in trading the 1OA to the Panthers, and to be frank, I'm quite happy that we ended up with Williams instead of sticking with Fields. And I'm glad we have Johnson instead of Flus, so I am also happy he did not move on from Fields a year earlier and take Stroud, whose successes would pose the problem where we still have Flus today.

But if you have the GM making personnel decisions without the approval of the HC, you run into problems of significant disconnect.

Flus is a defensive coach so no Claypool was probably Poles.

Ben Johnson is an offensive coach and is on record that Loveland reminds him of LaPorta. Dont be dense.

Poles did the same thing he did with Eberflus-give that coach what he asked for to succeed.

This isn't a desperate pick. It's a GM giving the HC the tools he asked for.

That is absolutely what he did both times.
It is also absolutely not what his job is. If it was we may as well get a HC/GM.

Having a HC and a GM is a check and balance to any one person having too much power. Both times Poles needed to pull up his pants and grab his nuts and say Trenches over your DBs or your TEs.

So many are forgetting we didn't hire a super star HC. We drafted a super star QB and HCs wanted to work with him. That means they work to the QB's ability not bend the QB to their unproven game plan.
Poles giving in to the HC (again) makes me wonder if he hasn't bought into another Nagy.

Dont understand how the nutjob meatballs dont understand this is a ben johnson pick.

If the bears hired mike vrabel poles was not drafting a fucking tight end at #10.

You could have hired a new GM, they would still take loveland at #10.
