You all do any?

I just got a new interior door for a bathroom, and decided to keep the old one. Considering getting some collapsible saw horses to screw in to the bottom and creating a portable work bench for <$40. It's a hollow-core door, so I'm gonna have to do a bit of research, but seems like a good, relatively cheap project.

I built a beer pong table last summer. Once I get my own place, I'd probably attempt to do some projects. Problem is I dont have many tools.

Me.

Do you plan on putting a new veneer on the door? What do you mean by re-work it? If you reshape a hollow door significantly, just remember, it's load changes. If you shrink it too much, it will crack right off the hinges.

I told you the story about the hollow door and an old roommate, right? :)

Neighbors took their doors and made tables out of them for parties. Lasted years

I did some mechanic stuff with my car that I got advice from all of you here.

Replaced locks on doors

Removed fencing

Installed a screen door and a floating floor.

Each project I get more confident, but I am far from a DIYer

didn't plan on putting veneer on the door...and don't plan on re-working it...Just planned on screwing some collapsible metal sawhorses to the underneath of the door. Hinges/knobs are already off.

and no, don't believe i heard that one, lol

Sorry, I was distracted and posted a reply before I read your whole project. Yeah, that's fine. You could even just use clamps on the horses and that's good for non-precise projects.

Yeah, I had a roommate with a cat that liked me better than her. My roommate didn't like that for some reason. I drilled a hole at the top of her bedroom door, and filled her hollow door with a big ass bag of catnip. The cat meowed until she let her in, and meowed until she let her out for the next two weeks.

Sounds like the definition of a DIYer, to me :hi5:

I know this is going to make me sound like a jerk and I don't mean it that way at all.

Isn't there a difference between a hobby and a DIYer?

You can be both a hobbyist and a DIYer. I don't think the term DIYer is really something that should be put on a pedestal.

I can do as much as 95% of it myself.

So yeah it is a DIY-ing...

Plus it includes wood working and foam boards which I've already done.

And someday when you're DIY'ing in your own house, you'll appreciate it.
Trust me...

Once I get a career job and my own place I can do some projects. But for now, I'll stick to building empty Beer can towers when I'm drunk.
