Going to start laying down some of the fake wood flooring in my basement. When I start in the corner, is that the piece that I cut in half, or does that not matter?

To stagger the joints I mean.

It doesn't matter. Eventually you'll see the stagger.

As long as you start against a wall to get the first planks in tight, it doesn't matter. Worst case scenario would be a few added cuts. Something you want to factor this time of year, is that the material will expand. The fake stuff doesn't expand as much, but it does expand a little with humidity and heat. So you may want to space planks accordingly and leave the slightest amount of give. Otherwise you could wind up with curling boards. YMMV, so factor in the spacing the best you can, and it will be fine.

Just to add, make sure that you allow a good two days of the laminate to sit and get to house temp/humidity too before laying. For you that would be keeping it in the basement unstacked if possible. Don't worry about getting it under the wall, the small edge you leave allows for expansion as Crys shared and it gets covered with a quarter round when you are all done.

Also don't take for granted the room is perfectly square. You could end up with some ugly cutting of some pieces depending on how things lay out.

I brought home 4800 pounds of river rock today in my F350. My Aussie keeps running the fence with his Dobie friend next to us. Tired of the mud. Have to unload all of this so I can go get the landscape timbers. This will take a few days. I sure know how to have fun.

Finally had good weather and time to unload my truck. 100 48lb bags weren't as tough as I thought. Only took 2 hours with a beer break. Probably fucking die tomorrow. Looks like I have a week of good weather to get this project done and get my dog out of the mud. Time for another beer.

Hope you got those timbers in first, and the area all prepared, so you could break those bags into a barrow right off the truck and not have to lift them again.

*Edit - nvm, just read your prior post that you still need to get timbers. Thoughts and prayers.

On a beer break. Timbers are in and 1/4 of the rock. Trying to finish today. Only have to move 3600lbs and I'm done. After I spread it even.
