I only eat at home once a day on weekdays. And not every meal needs plates.

I eat alot of frozen dinners, so I dont need to use a plate in that case.

I have felt that this thread was a trap, so I have avoided it. It seems like I can't help myself, and am certain I will regret this...

It's fascinating to me that the idea is that the woman still owns responsibility for the household chores and that the question is if the man chooses to help or not. It sounds like the men who have posted in this thread who don't view things this way seem to be doing quite fine for themselves.

We share responsibilities and we have a wonderful cleaning lady that has been with us for 6+ years now... life saver.

To be fair it is still assumed "the man" owns to outdoor chores as well. They aint marketing snow shovels and lawn mowers to women. I don't really have this view because I like to keep my place clean I won't think twice about vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen et al.

I just dont agree with the overarching concept only men are sexist in their view of domestic roles. I am pretty sure most women would relegate their husband to the couch upon the suggestion they grab the shovel and clear the driveway while they do the dishes.

I don't assume this and I think you raise a valid point re: outdoor chores, etc.

As for the second point, I don't think only men are sexist. It comes in all forms from all places, sadly. I was simply responding to the theme of this topic, and like I said, I think you bring up a valid point. After Snowmageddon, I grabbed a shovel and went outside to tackle the task of digging out the garage... not a thought in my mind that it was "man's work".

I'd switch the driveway and acre lawn for the dishes any day. Laundry, that's another story. Then again my wife doesn't have a job per say. It may eventually change if she ever decides to go back to work.

If she were working, I'd be doing a lot more "inside" chores. I can't see her mowing the lawn or snow blowing the drive way. I certainly can't see her trimming the tree's, burning the leaves, fertilizing the lawn, putting grass seed down, doing the mulch and a slew of other out door tasks.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't help her do the other stuff if she asked. I made dinner and did the dishes last night.

Eh, you're talking about homeowners man. I expect my landlord to take care of the maintenance of the building. Period. And I don't care who or what he uses to get it done. There's been times over the many years I have lived there when he's been out of town during snowfalls and I have shoveled and laid down the salt---hell, there's been times he was out of town and I have had to go to the store and buy the damn salt myself. And any number of tenants male and female in the building have decided to do things like prune back the leaves on the back yard gate or pick up of the fall leaves, etc. As for crap specifically like shoveling, I don't know how most people grow up but my ass had to shovel as a kid---my mother takes the stance that children a free labor period regardless of gender. Which is precisely why I loathe cleaning today because I had to do it from a very early age because she worked so much.

I say this is what "services" are for. Need your windows cleaned? Hire a service/or have your landlord hire a service! Need the three floors of stairwells cleaned? Have a cleaning lady come every two weeks to vacuum it and dust the banisters and window ledges! Front yard maintenance in nice weather? Lawn service! Lawn watering? Install automated system for nighttime! This is why I love that the landlord lives in the unit next to me---we are sympatico about this shit! Throw money at it!

I'm fine with doing my own laundry. My mother taught me at a very young age to do my own. I iron like a champ. Marcy does not let me touch her clothing. I fucked up so many articles of her clothing because they all need to be washed by hobbits, then dried by fairies in a special holding pattern. I've fucked that up enough times that I have been kicked out of the area in which laundry is done. If I'm caught in the general vicinity, the results are not good.

I cook on occasion (I wish I had time to cook more--I enjoy it), take care of the lawn/winter snow removal, we split cleaning up the cat's piss biscuits and turds from their litter box, and house cleaning. I am a fanatic for a clean shitter.
