I wanted to take my almost three year old. He loves planes! Everytime he hears one, he finds it and says "Look Daddy, a plane!"

To rocky Mountain bear

It was hell getting in to the reservoir from what I heard. Most people were stuck in traffic for over 3 hours. I went around to the south side and just set up in a field. All the planes flew right over my head...and it was free!

Blue angels are in town next year!

Here's some photos since I promised.

I have flown countless times, most of it has been domestic and a handful of international travel...my only problem with flying is that I can't sleep on planes and that is 100% on me. It's not that I am afraid and that is keeping me up, I just can't ever get comfortable enough to fall asleep. If I could sleep, then I would love to fly...but because I can't sleep on planes I can only say I don't mind it at all. When there is a 1 in 29,400,000 chance of being killed in a plane crash, it's kind of hard to really be afraid of flying.

Most fears are illogical though.

I have to say, they are making sure flying is less and less enjoyable. They pack you in and God forbid you are next to a fat ******.

What kills me is American based airlines. They are just the worst when it comes to comfort and customer service. Foreign airlines are so much better. I have to laugh when australians get angry saying "Qantas sucks!". Qantas is way better than any American based airline. Just looking at the 2014 airline rankings. You have to get to number 49 to make it to an American based airline. I know it is a bit different here in the US, in that there are so many markets that they have to fly to. But I would think 'Murica could do a little better.

Most of my flying is to Tampa and I can deal with sitting next to a fat ****** for a few hours in a cramped plane than having to drive 13+ hours (with no traffic). If I am going for a week or more I'll drive it just because I'll want my car there but, typically even with layover a flight from Richmond to Tampa is 4-5 hours depending on the layover. I'll take that over a 13 hour drive any day regardless of who is next to me.

That's what I do for our airshow. Just find a field close to the flight path and they fly right over you when the re set for the next pass. Thunderbirds are awesome but Blue Angels are even better IMO.

Agreed on the Blue Angels! I enjoy them all though. I like watching the Red Bull air competitions as well.

For those in the area, the best air show near Chicago just happens to be this weekend:

I used to go to that airshow all the time when I was younger! The midwest is much bigger on airshows than Colorado from what I have seen. But given the number of people that showed up this weekend, people are hungry for it!

Isn't the USAF Academy in Colorado?

I have to preface this by saying I love driving. Did a 15-hour drive from PDX to LA a number of years back to get my wife's passport changed (nearst consulate), and after reaching LA she was the road-weary one--not me.

But I also love flying--for those times when time is an issue and it costs less than gas. A set of noise cancelling headphones is a great investment.

There was only 1 time flying was hell. I was sent to KC for businnes and some bint working at Subway gave me the flu and I had to fly back to the PacNW with completely clogged sinuses--that and the pilot abesent-mindedly left the fasten seatbelt sign on for half of the redeye after running through turbulence so my bladder was screaming in pain. Other that that I've enjoyed every flight I've done.

Yep. Sure is. And surprisingly they made a big deal that the Thunderbirds flew over the graduation ceremony. First time the thunderbirds have been in Colorado in 18 years.

Qantas is also quite safe.

Ouch. After that, perhaps we need a little humor to lighten the mood!
