Does anyone else feel disappointed about this season, but also calm about the team getting better quick?

Agreed. I think the path to being competitive is a relatively straight line = fire Poles, hire a new GM who brings in Ben Johnson and the team then invests in the OL and DL. The question is, will the Bears actually do those things? The history of the organization says no.

History does say that, but the Warren stuff is what throws a fly in that ointment.

Warren is the Team Prez for the Bears, but supposedly those who know him believe he is only out for himself.

And ultimately he supposedly wants Roger Goddell's job.

He isn't going to get that by being the next Ted Phillips on the Bears.

Which is why I think he took a more prominent role after Eberflus was fired.

I think more than ever, we have a chance to see things get realigned in Chicago.

But if Poles DOES get fired, I wouldn't expect it until after the first Ben Johnson interview.

Not sure how anyone could have confidence in this team, moving forward.

I think Warren is nothing more than a mouthpiece for what ownership wants. They use him as a shield to get what they want without having to suffer the consequences of their decisions being scrutinized.

The bolded part is one of those things that has been repeated so many times that Bears fans just assume it’s a fact when we really have no clue. For all we know Warren could be happy collecting a check here for the next 10-15 years like Ted did. Let’s face it this is a great job. High pay. Zero accountability. He might burrow in and never leave.

@Mighty Joe Young has been parading this and other utter speculation as fact for a few days now. For years, really. I think spamming unsubstantiated rumors should be a bannable offense, and might help inspire the offender to get the psychological help and medication she needs

I felt better at the end of last season because we appeared to be on an upward trajectory with most NFL experts comparing us to the rise of the Detroit Lions. This season was supposed to be a playoff season with the addition of talent at WR, RB, and the drafting of a generational QB, but the season has turned out to be way worse than last season. Interesting.

I hope you are right. Something has to change.

The difference between how well run the Packers, Lions and Vikings are compared to the Bears is stark. I'd like to think that is putting pressure on the Bears' front office to get their house in order once and for all.

I think the annual role the Bears play as league laughingstock is also more scrutinized this year by the national media because they recognize how talented Caleb is. None of them want to see his career get wasted here in Chicago and so there seems to be more attention on Chicago's utter ineptness than usual.

At the beginning of the year I had thought we would be a 7-10 win team, with hopes of sneaking into the playoffs.

This year has been an obvious disappointment. In a normal 4 win season, I would normally be ready for a massive rebuild. But I think all that is needed is a legit head coach, and whoever the GM is going to be, to put resources into OLine and Dline.

I also think because of our horrific coaching season that our record doesn't reflect the talent on the field. I thought our peak would be 10 wins because of the possibility of Caleb having a Stroud type year and Eberflus actually knowing how to coach. But because Eberflus was horrific in late game managament and a rookie QB being a rookie, things were much worse than the 7 win floor I thought the team had.

But because we have a quarterback, I don't really see us in a dire situation. This is feeling I am not used to because we have a quarterback. Does he still have holes? Yes, he holds the ball too long looking for the home run, but I like that about him and I think he will learn to process faster and learn to take what is given to him more often.

When it comes to coaching, I don't think you can do much worse than Eberflus, especially with the top candidates out there. Without getting into debates on who that is, I think it is a win win if they choose one of Ben Johnson or Vrabel.
Exactly why I am cool about this season. Better draft pick, Flus exposed and a team capable of 9-11 wins with the right coaches, right moves this offseason amd guys like Caleb and Rome developing.

Not disappointed at all. This is exactly what I expected to happen. A lot of hype by the fans and media only for the team to not live up to it. Rinse and repeat. As far as moving forward, with the proper GM and HC I’d say the Bears are 2-3 years from actually competing. That’s only if the Bears can hit on a GM/HC

It's going to depend on whether or not the Bears get the right head coach and whether or not they replace Ryan poles.

If the rumors of a Ben Johnson and Agnew pairing are true, I think this thing gets better really quickly and the Bears are contending in the playoffs next year.
And now the Bears want to imitate/copy the Lions, my how things have changed!!

I’ve lived to many of the “wait until next year” season to have any type of hope left. If it happens great but I’m not getting excited for anything until I see it actually work. Even then can we get 3 years in a row of success? That’s what it will take for me to believe in them again.

2-3 years from competing is something bears fans tell themselves as an excuse every year. Real organizations turn things around, often in 1 offseason, but undoubtedly within 2 if they have the right people in charge.

And while this roster is mid, it doesn't need overhauled. Should've been competing this year if it weren't for incompetent coaching and roster building

More like copy the Rams as Agnew followed Holmes from Rams and Dolphins/Bears as Johnson stated influeces are Martz, Shoop and Gase ie all former Bears OCs.

Oh I agree 100% but this is the Bears organization we are talking about. If they ever find a legit GM and HC I still think it will take 2-3 years for them to get their players and scheme in place.

Feel good? Lol. The gm blows and hasn’t been fired yet. Going into an offseason with meh hc options and what’s looking to be one of the worst fa in recent memory. This team will be a turd again next year

Then maybe you should hire some assistants from the Rams?

Not wrong - I'm happy to let you have that cope while we land Ben Johnson (whom you said would respect the Lions so much he'd never leave for the Bears. :smug2: )
