Got gouged in a scuffle. Weeks later infection/swelling, eye popped out the socket. Fucking gross and painful.
How'd you fix it? Soak it in some beet kvass for a minute and slap it back in?

I did the puppy thing when I bought my first house and loved it.
I had a fantastic almost decade and a half with them.
Now, I have resucues.... it is amazing how different they are (rescue as compared to puppies). They both had rough early lives, now they live in the lap of luxury and appreciate every second of it.
one of my pooches just had the second of 2 knee surgeries and is recovering nicely, and when she is fully recovered, I am going to rescue an old pooch.... one that will be hard to place due to age, and give it a great life.

You're a very good person. I have always had my dogs before they hit 10 weeks. My wife and I have had 7 dogs plus 1 litter of pups. 8 of those little bastards. I will never do that again.

I could never have a litter of pups.... I would find any excuse I could to keep them all!

It was very hard to bypass the puppy stage and go with an adult rescue the first time, and there are difficult stages of getting them past any old issues, but once you do they become so insanely devoted to you.

Old dogs rule!!

That they do- my first pup that I ever got had a pure black mask as a little guy, and by the time he was a senior, it was pure white.
he went from crazy manic 24/7 to being the laziest, loungingest fellow ever.

Old dogs are outstanding.

If the planets align, I may get 2 older ones. I just bought the house next door to mine for my mom to move in to, and she said she wanted a dog (she has lived in an apartment for many years). I am gonna encourage her to get an old pound dog as well.
Works out for me, because I am combining the back yards and she can be the daycare for everyone when I am working!

My border collie refused to wait on the beach without whining, howling, barking and generally upsetting everyone on the beach around us so she got her own boogie board. When we were snorkeling I would dump her off every 10 mins or so just to keep her cooled off. She is an awesome dog.

God I miss Hawaii now...

Here are my pups, the one on the right is 15 and the one on the left is almost 2...If you either have a family or don't want too big of a dog I would suggest Beagle's. I think the little one may have some American Foxhound in him, he doesn't have the typical Beagle shape.

Wow, that is cool. I can't even get my two dogs to walk on a damn leash.

Its not too bad, there is a fire station near by which occasionally sets off the older one which in turn sets off the younger one...but I may hear them howl 3-4 times during the week. Now they may howl while I'm away at work, but while I'm there they tend to be as quiet as 2 dogs can be.

Beagles are so cool. If I hadnt found a border collie breeder that breeds for temperament (actually very rare) then beagle was our second choice.

Id love to get a very large, thick German Shepherd..I had 1 living in Chicago and he was the best..Cancer got him though.. The problem with getting a puppy though is ya never know how they will turn out. Its a science picking out puppies. Like the NFL draft I guess
