Remember that Jim Harbaugh guy everybody wanted for HC? The guy and his GM/dipshit owner who traded down and accumulated a lot of picks from 2012-2014? He took AJ Jenkins, Lamichael James, Joe Looney, Darius Flemming, Trenton Robinson, Jason Slowey, and Cam Johnson in 2012? Care to guess how many of this wave of talent are still in the league?
2013 started off right with safety Eric Reid. who's an excellent player. Then Tank Carradine, who's still in the league but a back up rotational player and the 2nd round pick. Vance McDonald is still around too, but a back up tight end no longer in San Francisco. Then Corey Lemongier--no longer in the league, Quentin Patton, who's jobless, and Marcus Lattimore, who retired after a year and a half. Quentin Dial has bounced around the league and has a job being a bad back up NT for the packers. Nick Moody also has been out of the league.
Do you want me to go on to 2014? Oh boy, Jimmie Ward, Aaron Lynch, and Carlos Hyde! What happened with their other 9 picks?
The good times didn't stop there when Jim left for Michigan. 2015 boasted a ton of talent too. Arik Armstead disappeared after his strong rookie campaign. Jaquaski Tartt is a below average safety/nickel, Eli Harold sure is a difference maker too. Blake Bell isn't even on the roster, nor is Mike Davis, or DeAndre Smelter, or Ian Silberman, or Rory Anderson. Trent Brown still is on the roster as a backup OT.
What you missed in the "word salad" was how I called fans who love trading down idiots. Its never as easy as they think, and it takes not just one, but two teams to make a trade. And you'd think that'd stick after years of this bullshit.
If you don't have somebody ready to take at 8 and are just looking to get out of the pick for the sake of doing so, you're bad at your job as a GM/scout. That being said, unless somebody blows up Pace's phone with a trade he cant refuse because team X has to have their guy, I'll consider it then. But it doesn't seem likely this year. If you're Buffalo, why does the buck stop at #8? If you're looking to get your QB, they can move up a lot higher with those 2 firsts and 2 seconds they have this year as trade capital. Same with Denver. They aren't moving up to 8 to get the 3rd or 4th QB. They're going to 1-4 to get their guys.
