I was definitely on the Odunze train but I advocated quite a bit for Verse too. I thought he’d be a great bookend for Sweat. The board seemed split on him but I thought his power game would translate even as a rookie. That dude can bull rush. I made this statement pre-draft among others regarding Verse. Quote in orange…

“Verse is so similar to Sweat it’s kind of crazy. They would make great bookends. Verse is long and powerful. He plays the run tough. It gives you two guys that set a hard edge and can get around a tackle or push him straight back into the QB.

Verse has a couple of highlights where he bull rushes the OT into the QB and knocks them both to the ground.”

If the top two olinemen are gone, wouldn’t mind trading back and taking the best OG. Even if we end up with Smith and Dalman, I still would like to take an OL in the first round of the draft. We have to overkill the OLine this year.

DLine is another big need, but the DLine doesn’t do anything to protect the face of our franchise right now.

People pretending Braxton jones is good again lol some of you never learn

He's not good, he's not bad.

There just isnt really a "great" tackle in this draft. Both top guys have guard labels attached to them which is always a meh situation to me.

If there was a clear upgrade in this draft/FA then sure, but braxton is serviceable if you upgrade the interior.

If they get smith and dalman and trade down while netting another 2nd to get Booker I would be okay with that.

Then you'd have a very solid starting 5 and 3 2nd's and a high 3rd to build depth on the DL

At least serviceable for another year, hoping there's a better FA/Draft prospect available next year. I wouldn't want to rely on him as the long term solution unless he gets better and it seems he is where he is at this point.

The Bears have already drafted and are developing Wright and Jones. Get say Smith and Dalman in FA and a rookie in the 2nd and next year's line should be fine.

Outside of Philly most top OLs are a combination of draft picks and FAs.
This is precisely the way

That’d be a grand slam off season. OL would be completely transformed

Hopefully they can draft a star player this year for the 1st time in Poles tenure. Do not care what position or whether it is offense/defense, just add some top end talent. This team desperately needs some young stars and immediate impact contributors. Would obviously love if they could find one on OL or DL but after 3 drafts without any guaranteed stars (couple maybes) I'm not picky about what position they play.

The value at 10 is going go be DL most likely. Fix the OL in FA so you dont have to draft an OL out of need. If they are in your highest BPA tier then fine draft one at 10.
This

and if the top two OL are already drafted, along with 2 QB, Abdul Carter, Hunter and Will Johnson, there will either be a very good edge or Mason Graham available. I'd be thrilled if our pick were Graham

Nobody knows exactly how the draft will go. Assuming the top two OL players, Will Cambell and Kelvin Banks, are gone-a real possibility- how do you draft in the first 3 rounds? Do you reach for an OG or OT who is probably going to be there in the 2nd or 3rd rounds anyway, or do you go for the BPA?

And if so, who do you think will be available to pick?
According to the consensus Mock Draft, these 4 players should be there from 10-14

10.) Mykel Williams LB/Edge
11..) Ashton Jeanty RB
12.) Malaki Starks S
13.) Tyler Durden, I mean Luther Burden III Slot WR/Offensive weapon
14.) James Pearce DE/Edge
15.) Tyler Warren TE

Now, if The Bears are able to fix the OL through FA, that means that OL isn't the necessity it needs to be.

Jeanty could be in play. He'd be a nice weapon.

With Brisker's head injuries and Byard saving 7 million if realeased, Starks is not a bad pick. Pairing him with Brisker and All Harris, and wow happens.

Luther Burden???? If KA walks, getting a weapon from the slot like him and a creative play caller like BJ. Yes, please.

James Pearce is a solid rush end. Solid and worth a top ten pick.

Tyler Warren? We do need a Move TE. He can play in line. I am not sold on him, preferring Harold Fanin with our second 2nd or even in the 3rd round.

So, if Simmons could be there around 18, then a trade down would be a good idea, the Bears can always get a G in the second. I'm not opposed to taking IOL with the 10th overall, but Jeanty, Starks, Durden, or Pearce would be a great get, along with IOL in the second.

As far as DL is concerned, I know some dudes have been on David Walker, who I'd love to see move inside on passing downs at 3T.

But have you all seen Yahya Black? a former 4 star recruit? Played at Iowa? He is the type of dude Big Poles will draft as his physical profile is elite. Getting a dude like him in the 6th or later would be a way of mitigating having to take DL early.
