Nobody knows exactly how the draft will go. Assuming the top two OL players, Will Cambell and Kelvin Banks, are gone-a real possibility- how do you draft in the first 3 rounds? Do you reach for an OG or OT who is probably going to be there in the 2nd or 3rd rounds anyway, or do you go for the BPA?
And if so, who do you think will be available to pick?
According to
the consensus Mock Draft, these 4 players should be there from 10-14
10.) Mykel Williams LB/Edge
11..) Ashton Jeanty RB
12.) Malaki Starks S
13.) Tyler Durden, I mean Luther Burden III Slot WR/Offensive weapon
14.) James Pearce DE/Edge
15.) Tyler Warren TE
Now, if The Bears are able to fix the OL through FA, that means that OL isn't the necessity it needs to be.
Jeanty could be in play. He'd be a nice weapon.
With Brisker's head injuries and Byard saving 7 million if realeased, Starks is not a bad pick. Pairing him with Brisker and All Harris, and wow happens.
Luther Burden???? If KA walks, getting a weapon from the slot like him and a creative play caller like BJ. Yes, please.
James Pearce is a solid rush end. Solid and worth a top ten pick.
Tyler Warren? We do need a Move TE. He can play in line. I am not sold on him, preferring Harold Fanin with our second 2nd or even in the 3rd round.
So, if Simmons could be there around 18, then a trade down would be a good idea, the Bears can always get a G in the second. I'm not opposed to taking IOL with the 10th overall, but Jeanty, Starks, Durden, or Pearce would be a great get, along with IOL in the second.
As far as DL is concerned, I know some dudes have been on David Walker, who I'd love to see move inside on passing downs at 3T.
But have you all seen
Yahya Black? a former 4 star recruit? Played at Iowa? He is the type of dude Big Poles will draft as his physical profile is elite. Getting a dude like him in the 6th or later would be a way of mitigating having to take DL early.
Yahya Black went from being a quiet, passive type to an outgoing leader who can drive offensive linemen back into quarterbacks' laps.
